Security Guard inside Wal-Mart? It was probably one of those douche bag hired security guards that sit out in the parking lot in a van with the lights flashing.
Must have been a real hero.

I have friends in Kerrville, and this reads pretty much like what they have said since before the season - Helluva football players and hell raiser with a tendency to be his own worst enemy at times.

[QUOTE]John Paul said there came a day in every young man’s life when he had to grow up, to stop the adolescent high jinks that can be so fun and so destructive.[QUOTE]
[QUOTE]It’ll either be a girlfriend, or a talk with me,” John Paul said of his son’s maturity, “or he’ll see his vision and how to get there.[QUOTE]
So true.
Anybody on here can say what you want but unless you've been where this kid's at and had the pressure at the age where he is in his life then you can't say shidt.
Every person grows up and matures at different ages and times in their life. The kid is a great football player, he's still very young but seems like he's got a great father to teach him some lessons in life.
Thanks OP good find and a great article.

I don't really think this will affect his Heisman chances either way.

My parents were pretty high class and I still ended up in a lot of situations that JFF did. Both of my parents were college grads with great jobs but that didn't stop me from landing in jail once and being cuffed several other times. It took the Marine Corps and a few DI's to get my act together. Very glad I did and hopefully A&M and football will get his act together. Looks like it's already happening.

His story sounds pretty normal to me.
I wish I got in more fights growing up.

Manziel's family life & history are interesting but unimportant. The kid is being judged as a football player. Vince Young's father was in prison (may still be there) and so was Adrian Peterson's. Most players don't come from a Tebow-like family. And to my knowledge, OJ Simpson is still a Heisman winner. Reggie Bush, who seems to be a good person, is not.
