Everyone on this board, especially Arkansas fans, will crap all over me for saying this, but...
Nutt is one of the top three coaches in the SEC. And I'm serious.

Are you counting Tubby or not?

Yeah, counting Tubby.

No crap; just think you are wrong.
At this point, however, you would put him behind Saban, Meyer, Johnson, and Richt. I think Petrino will prove to be in this tier eventually, but to be fair the jury is still out. I would have put Tubs in this group as well.
He's comparable to Miles, perhaps Brooks, and present-day Spurrier.
Who knows about Kiffen and the rest of the newbies.
So, I guess due to attrition and unknowns, you aren't that far off at this point. Historically, Nutt has been considered by many to be a mid-level SEC coach

I have no problem with putting Nutt in the mid level range. Being an Ole Miss fan, I think thats what were content with. I'm not going to go over my head and say Ole Miss will compete for NC's under Nutt, but I do think we'll have more teams like the present ones. Teams that will overachieve and possibly compete for the West. We couldnt really compete this year with Alabama going undefeated. But all in all I think deep down Ole Miss is happy with their mid level coaches, as long as they like being here

Nutt is an underrated coach, but you are out of your mind with this statement.
In no order: Richt, Meyer, and Saban are easily the 3 best and Petrino could move into this category with time. I like Nutt, but recruiting is way to big of a factor (the most important aspect of CFB imo) to just neglect.

It would be very interesting to see how Nutt would have done at LSU because "LSU recruits itself."

Nutt keeps winning with Coach O's players, and Ole Miss will recruit itself. We may not have the best stadium, fans, or program, but we have the prettiest campus in the SEC.

I agree and I think he'll continue to do so, but I'm worried about when he has only his own players.

I think other SEC teams will steal from you like always, Nutt just isn't a recruiter.
I've got no beef with Ole Miss, hell I've pulled for you guys in every game but one. It's all jmo though.

How many campuses have you been to that are prettier than Ole Miss, and If you have only been to Ole Miss for the egg bowl, it doesn't count, because all of the leaves have fallen by then, and there aren't any pretty campuses.

As long as OM is happy with being mediocre, you'll be ok. Right now HDN is playing with Coach O's players. HDN is not a good recruiter. Every now and then he gets a good one. With what he had a couple years back, he should have won a NC, and any decent coach could have. Miles, Saban, Richt, or Tubberville, could have. Enjoy your run with HDN, because it won't last long.

I dated an ole miss chick and had plenty of friends go there. I've been there more than a handful of times. Fayetteville's setting is prettier if you want to talk about leaves falling and LSU's spanish style bldg's with their Live Oaks are prettier than ole miss.*(pre-Gustav. I havent' seen it since) Ole miss only has the lyceum brah. Oh, and hot broads.

If that were the case, then Cutcliff would still be your coach, right? In theory, he should have been able to recruit off Manning's coatails, but he couldn't It takes a guy with a strong recruiting philosophy to succeed in bringing in top talent at Ole Miss because it is a smaller school (smallest state school enrollment in the SEC), there is a smaller state population (even though MS churns out a huge number of prospects for its size), and the state's fanbase is divided.
I will give Nutt one thing. He did a good job of picking up guys at Arkansas that flew under the radar a bit. He had some really good linemen, running backs, and corners. QBs, well that's a different story. At least passing QBs.
As far as Ole Miss making a run next year, it depends. You guys are going to be losing some key players and leaders this year. You also have to wonder how much LSU will rebound and if Bama will step back for a year due to replacing their QB.
