When you compare these numbers to places like Minnesota, Pitt, and Cal it's pretty clear most SEC schools are criminally underrepresented in the CFBHOF

I don't think anyone would argue that there was a big bias against the schools in the south for a long time.

Part of it has to do with the fact that northern schools started playing earlier, but you're right that there has historically been a huge bias against the South in college football.

Ya this is a big reason as well. I suspect you will slowly see the SEC rise past some of these other conferences. It takes some time to get on the ballot though.

players who are playing professionally and coaches who are coaching on the professional level are not eligible until after they retire. A coach becomes eligible three years after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70 years old.

A few, but we're not talking decades for most current major programs. The ones that have a huge leg up are mostly the Ivies and similar programs. The bias part has more influence on the disparity. Not just because of bias against the South -- though there was plenty of that -- but because most of the major news outlets were either in the North-East, upper Midwest, or far West. It amounts to the same thing as bias against, but it was also a matter of catering to their local audience.

If it hadn't happened already, the growth of the Internet would have completely upended the status quo. Luckily, Southern teams managed to do that much earlier by different methods.

USCe really surprised me when I started looking at the numbers. I know they didn't have a great past but I didn't expect them to be last.

They have a terrible past. They were part of the ACC when the greatest program in the history of the conference was probably Duke. They were independent in an age when service academies, Mormon training grounds, and ND were the main ones who could actually make that work and find marquee match-ups. Then they joined the SEC when it was beginning to diversify its range of strong programs, squeezing the life out of the portions of their recruiting Clemson hadn't already laid claim to. And they've essentially been a retirement home for great coaches in the twilight of their careers.

If you haven't had a chance to visit the CFHOF in Atlanta, try to do so. It is worth every penny and a lot of fun. More information than you can digest.

I don't think we have a coach in the CFHoF.

I think it is just two players: George Rogers and Sterling Sharpe.

ETA: Unless you're prematurely counting Spurrier.

1936, go look at LSU and Alabama vs the actual champion. So many events like this happened that snubbed Southern Schools

Won't he go in as a Gator since that's his alma mater and where he won trophies? I'm not sure how the CFHOF works.

Maybe it doesn't work like that.
