Lets not deflect here. I never said good hire or that I liked it. I pointed out Jones has done nothing special in recruiting as some on here seem to think.

And if we are talking about coaching what has Jones done. Besides follow after what Kelly built on 2 different stops on his way to ND. Kelly rebuilds CMU and wins the MAC for the 1st time in like 7 years after inherited a losing team. Then leaves for Cincy where he goes back to back BCS bowls including his last year Cincy finishes #3 in the BCS and undefeated before he takes the ND job. Both times Jones was handed talented teams on the way up. Was not hard to do well at CMU but Cincy his 3 years there after back to back BCS bowls went 4-8, liberty and belk bowl. Now he is at UT with not much talent left for him like his other stops and finished 5-7. So again what has Jones done that is so much better than Kiffin.

I can really get these losers lathered up, huh? They're both mad AND scared at the same time. Stay back a little from your screen, or you'll get spittle on your face.

I would ask you why your post would stop me from loving it, but your post indicates to me the inability for you to even comprehend the question, much less form a coherent response.

UT is where they are because they did not get rid of Fulmer soon enough. CLK was the hire of the century for most UT fans when it happened. Lets not kid ourselves here.

Disclaimer: I am not in favor of the hire for UA.

I just hope I don't step on toes and get banned.
TexAgs is an incredibly sensitive place. I could post something like Manziel Greatest Evar? And I would be banned in less than 10 minutes for being a sock puppet.

Don't worry about stepping on toes. Most of these Tennessee, LSU and Auburn folks have tough toes...I guess that comes from not owning a pair of shoes.

Jones also got the benefit of 2 things CLK never did. First the group of legacies he got lucky that were in this class. Kelly, Berry and Bates are all 4 stars coming in.

None of those guys would've been at UT if not for Butch doing serious work mending the fences with former players. It does help to have 5 legacies but that doesn't make the #3 class in the country by itself.

2nd both 5 stars and 2 or 3 more 4 stars are from the state of TN. SO Jones has yet to do anything that you would not expect someone to do at UT.

No Tennessee coach has locked down the state like this since probably Fulmer in the mid 90's and even that is debatable. He has done a hell of a job getting instate studs to actually come to UT.

Tidewarrior, you should know this type of stuff considering how often you rub elbows with the folks at Volnation.

Nothing. You chumps and chumpettes are the ones exalting the greatest example of someone living off their daddy's coattails in the history of football coaches.

Well, maybe not you in particular, but the gump fanbase.

Scruffy just finds it funny that a man who is the butt of many a joke is now loved by the gumps.

2012 and 11 were not good years for UT instate but for UT still has pulled Tiny, Stone, Smith and others with no problem. But I was referencing more the fact that TN had so much talent instate this year compared to last few years it seems. And UT has started getting back into Memphis and getting the better players. And yes the legacies help and Kelly has been huge in recruiting.

In regards to VN I post very seldom there. To many fans on there act like Vandy fans. As if they have never been on top before. Depending on the day VN makes this place look sane.

Do you expect the our fans to go all ape shite and say fire Saban. No whether we like it or not Saban makes the decisions and we hope they turn out right. Some may feel love for Kiffin, maybe his wife, and some just troll UT fans. It is the rant after all.

Not at all, but Scruffy does expect people to be consistent.

Agreed. Its the ones that are now proclaiming him as some offensive genius that really gets Scruffy's laugh box a movin'.

All Scruffy asks for is a little honesty.

It's not a fluke. '15 class instate may not be as top heavy but it's probably deeper than this years. Nashville is booming and it's wise of Butch to basically make that his base.

Butch hasn't proved much yet on the field but he definitely deserves credit for turning around recruiting for Tennessee. What he's done isn't common or what we're used to. Kiffin, Dooley nor Fulmer (in his later years) could keep half of the top instate prospects at UT if you remember.

Whose heads will be exploding by the end of the '14 season? I don't think it will be UT fans.

This is not about Alabama OT Tennessee, this is about nick looking at the west side of the state and saying "oh frick".

Nothing more and nothing less.
