Well only one of those actually gives you a competitive advantage.

Anytime a kid gets suspended for weed we all say, "Its only weed! It's not like it gives you a competitive advantage!"

So, yeah, there you go.

Wait, your indictment of the NCAA is that they treat steroids worse than recreational drugs?

You frickers are going on all the time about how weed should just be made legal and no big deal, but when something that actually gives a competitive advantage is abused, you bitch when a harsher penalty is levied by the regulatory agency that ensures fair competition?

Dumb fricks.

UF announced a suspension for the rest of the season, NCAA should not be able to step in and force a full calendar year

Why not?

That also has nothing to do with your OP.

What? Of course they should be able to do that. If they don't have that authority, do you actually believe that football programs would police themselves when it comes to PED's?

Come on son

Steroids are performance enhancing drugs. Marijuana certainly isn't. Cocaine is debatable.

You ever watch those interviews of players from the 80's telling about how much cocaine helped them through games?

ask Ricky Williams and he'll give you a different answer on this. He said weed for him was like "spinach for Popeye"

They stepped in because he failed a NCAA drug test. They have a zero tolerance policy. If the school had tested and caught him they could decide what the punishment was. Hell they don't even have to report it to the NCAA. Happens all the time with weed.

And Donovan McNabb used Campbell's Chunky Soup. Doesn't change the fact that most people would agree that, overall, smoking weed doesn't give one a competitive advantage on the football field.

As for cocaine, yes, I agree that it was definitely used on game days for years along with all kinds of amphetamines and other "uppers."
