Alabama has always continued to have talent on the field and were probably more talented than Auburn was

But talent is talent and you need that to start with, you can't forge a sword out of shite. I just made the statement that you guys just had poor coaches, not lack of talent. Wasn't flaming, just making a statement.
We had enough talent to hang in a game for 40 min. Then the few talented players we had gave out. If you want to waste some time (lol) then go back during the Shula years and see how many close games we lost in the fourth quarter. Also, go back and look at the LB and DL recruits that we had to place and then resigned several times. To compete you have to have depth and better is quality depth.

Those numbers are shite though, very skewed with resigns for Auburn and lots of lost players. Tuberville did a very poor job of signing top players that could qualify and most of those solid classes for Auburn, the top 2 or 3 players didn't qualify each year.
I saw a stat and I will look for it again, it was basically showing the SEC schools with their average national recruiting ranking over the last year compared to the percentage of players that qualified and stayed for two years. I think Florida was number 1 in the SEC getting around 90% of signees enrolled and Auburn was ridiculously low around 60% or something. I will look for it again and post if I find it.

Recruiting rankings are based on gross number of recruits and not based on fill needs. If I sign 5 five star RBs but only sign two star OL then my rankings will be high but my team will shitty.
We resigned Mike Ford, Fanney and Stover at least twice. Those inflate our rankings without the benefit of the talent.
To even compare Shula's classes with Saban's is just silly.

I see what you're saying and I'd say that's mostly right. Saban and his staff had a few players left over from Shula that didn't have much talent. Off the top of my head, I can think of Cory Reamer and Eryk Anders. Those two played with mostly heart until Saban and his staff coached them up.
I agree that we had poor coaches but we also didn't have talent at every position as we do now.

After winning the MNC at LSU in 2003 with DiNardo's recruits, he fell flat on his arse in 2004
In 2004 LSU played 11 games not 12
In 2004 LSU lost to 3 Top 10 teams
In 2003 LSU had 31st ranked offense, 04 the 38th
In 2003 LSU had #1 ranked defense, 04 the #3
So can you show me where he fell flat on his arse? I know this is fishing but at least be smart.
