Notre Dame will get in but it will be the watershed to them not playing the 13th game

Alabama, no real argument
Clemson, played weak but played 13
Oklahoma, avenged their only loss and played 13
Georgia, kept a single score with the dominant team of 2018

Buckeyes lost to Purdue and B1G is over rated
Notre Dame only played 12 and played weak
PAC may just drop P5 status unless USC is good in a given year
Central Florida only played Pittsburgh as P5 this fall

Next contract negotiation I can see the Irish being forced into the ACC for football as they are already in for all their other primary sports.

Notre Dame will get in and will get embarrassed. CFP committee will prove what a joke they are.

You are being polite about Notre Dame.
What you mean is Notre Dame is about to get fricked in the arse no matter who they draw.

I agree.

Meh.

Notre Dame doesn't play shite teams like The Citadel and Austin Peay to pad their schedules.
I think their lamest game was like Ball State, then Navy. The rest of their schedule is legit. They play 5 "conference" games in the ACC, and they always play teams like USC, Stanford, Michigan, etc.
I'm OK with what Notre Dame has done

I don't understand the thing with the ACC
Seems like they have more rivals in the Big 10 and are obviously better located for that league

They don’t need to be in the ACC, they need to play a game during championship weekend so they aren’t a sitting duck.

For example, today ND should have scheduled a random lower tier P5 team like Baylor or Arkansas just to show the world that they’re still here and are 13-0.

Of course Bama fans are okay with ND getting it. Its because they know ND poses no threat.

Notre Dame is undefeated and played 10 P5 teams. They beat 4 ranked teams during the season. Their schedule, conference championship game or not, has been every bit as difficult as Clemson, Oklahoma, or Ohio State.

There should be no argument whatsoever that Notre Dame should be in. They earned it. They will get smoked by Alabama, but they earned a playoff spot.

Clemson: 42
Notre Dame: 24

Oklahoma: 48
Notre Dame: 31

Somewhere in that range.

ACC has more private schools and is more east coast which is Notre Dame's sweet spot.

In the B1G they would be in a mass of big state schools and get limited exposure in just the B1G footprint.

You left out Georgia who is the spot they will take

Irish for 2018
10-2 Michigan @ South Bend and Michigan got smoked by Ohio State
4-8 Ball State @ South Bend
6-6 Vanderbilt @ South Bend (Dores got robbed)
6-6 Wake Forest @ WF
8-4 Stanford @ South Bend
6-6 Virginia Tech @ VT
7-6 Pittsburgh @ South Bend
3-9 Navy (Neutral)
8-5 Northwestern @ NW (but more like UGA @ VU were visitors fans dominate)
5-7 Florida State @ South Bend
9-3 Syracuse in NYC (strong Irish fan support)
5-7 USC @ USC

I know schedules are made years in advance but what were strong schedule games like FSU and USC were not and it was not like the Irish dominated strong foes this season.

To be fair to Notre Dame, not being in a conference leaves them with little room for error. A one-loss Notre Dame will likely never jump a one-loss power 5 conference champion. They essentially have to go undefeated or rely on a season like last year where there were only three Power 5 conference champions with one or fewer losses. Now if one-loss Notre Dame starting jumping one-loss conference champions, that's when it should become an issue.

to be fair, if Notre Dame joined the acc in full, it would only weaken their schedule

why?

It isn't like the Tourney starts next week. In fact, this could hurt ND more than it helps. It will be like six weeks before ND plays their next game.

Not a UGA should get in reply. The issue is every other team played a conference championship. Notre Dame bypassed the opponent they should have been playing, Clemson, while UGA, Bama, Oklahoma, and Ohio St had to compete today.

If ND had played Clemson today, I wonder if GA gets in over OSU

They should tell
nD at the end of this season that they will
It be eligible for the playoffs next year unless they are in a conference.
