Big Ten produces some of the weakest athletes. Rutgers and Clemson discussed protesting their tournament game. I wish they had and the NCAA threw them to the curb like VCU

What an absolutely trash take. The NCAA is a joke and a complete racket making money off the bullshite concept of “amateurism.”

As long as the schools aren’t involved I am 100% for a player being able to market himself or sign autographs for money on his own.

The tricky part is what stops a Coach from telling a booster to give a Local Car Dealership $500,000 to give to a kid for shooting 1 commercial for said dealership if he commits to your school?

The NCAA makes billions off of the tournament and the players see none of it. Why don't you go work for free while making someone billions and see how you like it.

It's funny because they are getting education, room, board, meals, stipend, exposure all because of the school and NCAA.

America 2021.

The players are literally eating Ruth’s Chris surf and turf, get state of the art medical care, get room and board for free, get a college education for free plus they are getting paid outside of that by agents etc that’s fairly generous compensation.

aka things that are in the school's best interest to keep them in the game and in position to win games.

No it's not. Its a drop in the bucket. Even if the value of all of that is $100,000, which is arguable, but I don't know what the value is, then it's still way below their market value given the money the top programs make and what the NCAA Tournament makes.

I think this is one of those things where you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.

We can all bitch day and night about how unfair it is, and what a crock the NCAA is, but you take away the amateurism in college sports, and I think you'd find that it loses its soul, and the entire reason why we love college sports to begin with.

As shitty as the NCAA can be, I think we need to just appreciate the imperfect nature of college sports as they are, because it's essentially why we enjoy them.

Well my degree I received from LSU has been worth well over 100k

Also you fail to recognize that the ncaa is paying market value. These kids are making more by playing in the ncaa than anywhere else or else they wouldn’t go. Also who do you think will get more endorsements Cade Cunningham/Evan Mobley/jalen Suggs or johnathan kuminga

As a parent that just paid full-pop for a kid through college, I can tell you that a free education, meals, health care and perks are absolutely of value.

Not to mention the free tv exposure to future employers.

Working for “free” is a lie.

Yet the NCAA loves to run commercials about how many of their athletes don't make it in professional sports.

This line of thinking is so asinine. “Look I know it’s unfair and bullshite, but by golly I love college sports the way they are and I am only concerned about me being entertained the way I want to be.” The tuition, room and board costs are already hyper inflated so there’s no real argument there that it’s considered reasonable compensation. These kids are the backbone of a billion dollar industry and they are supposed to be satisfied with free meals and sharing a two bed apartment?

The loop holes in paying college athletes are ENDLESS...

You think cheating is bad now! Open this door and just wait.

I wasn’t aware a full-ride scholarship and the shite load of other perks that they get that the average student doesn’t get was all free. You learn something new every day around here.

....yeah?

So a bunch of kids who have zero shot of making money to play a sport are getting a free education healthcare food room board clothing equipment tutoring preferential scheduling and some of this at the most prestigious universities in our nation when they got preferential admissions.

So where do the players get the short end of the stick again?
