Nothing more fun..........

then reading a Tweet or post where some team has "signed a top 4* recruit"........and then you find out he's 3*'s on most and just cracked the 4* range on the one they decided to brag about. The industry needs to standardize on a rating system, and add a few layers to it. On 247, an 89 is not the same as a 98, but both are 4*'s...........Rivals has basically 5.7 - 6.1, and ESPN simply pulls crap out of the air to provide theirs.
Like I said, would be nice if they could get their heads together and come up with a standard rating so you can truly compare their interpretations of where players truly rank.

maybe we're just really opposite but I can think of a metric shitton of things more fun than that.

No one is signing anyone right now

Or we can stop putting so much authority in the hands of 16, 17 and 18 y/o's. The top ten school twitter releases and the publicity that follows the rest of the recruitment process is getting out of hand

I think maybe you need to reevaluate things in your life. Take up gardening or yoga. Learn to cook.

Everyone always picks the site that ranks their recruit the highest, and its impossible to standardize everything because of the sheer amount of recruits and the different levels of competition. Not to mention that recruiting sites are business that would be reluctant to change IMO.

I just immediately thought of almost infinite things more fun than this.
So you think we need to "standardize" the subjective talent evaluation of thousands of high school players? Why is this important to you? Who cares if someone thinks he's a 3 star and someone thinks he's a 4 star?

Yeah, perhaps Obama can appoint a czar of college football recruiting. It's not necessary, but it would be helpful if this was a cabinet level position.

I think what you are looking for are the 247Sports Composite Ratings.
quote:
The 247Sports Composite Rating is a proprietary algorithm that compiles prospect "rankings" and "ratings" listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index capping at 1.0000, which indicates a consensus No. 1 prospect across all services.
The 247Sports Composite Rating is the industry's most comprehensive and unbiased prospect ranking and is also used to generate 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings.
More details ...
All major media services share an equal percentage in the 247Sports Composite Rating.
The composite index equally weights this percentage among the services that participate in a ranking for that specific prospect.
A composite strength meter, indicated by red bars, illustrates the total number of industry services that have ranked the prospect. A full strength meter indicates the prospect has been ranked by all industry services participating in the composite.
All industry services have a different philosophy on number of "stars" distributed with each class. The 247Sports Composite Rating assigns stars based on an approximate average distribution of stars from the industry.
