There was an incident Paul M.'s first year at LSU when they visited Vandy. The PA announcer had some classless question relating to LSU's coaching search, only because they knew Corbin had been in the hunt. A really classless move, but we've taken care of it twice in two SEC Tourney championship games against said prick. Like I said, Geaux Frogs.

Let me guess. You believe that Corbin was the mastermind behind this awful question, right?

Hoover titles? Neither of our 2 programs at this point really care about Hoover titles, do we?

That logic is absolutely crazy, right? The reasons why people dislike other people they have never met never fails to surprise me

I, for one, feel validated. If just 1 poster a day was willing to hate Vandy, after a year, we'd have 365 mortal enemies, which is more than Northwestern and The Colorado School of Mines combined.

Unless it was a leap year, but figuring that one out involves the sort of calculus that most people can't follow.

Feel free to take some of our haters, though you might capture some of your own fanbase. We have plenty to spare.

Y'all have finally learned what we've known all along, or at least since last year -- sports success breeds envy and hate. Welcome to the club of the elites.

Yeah - I have never even had that thought enter my mind. However, when 4 of the 8 getting to Omaha are private schools, they obviously have an advantage getting players to come there with their "leadership" scholarships. Young men turn down way too much money to go to college when they can offer $50k scholarships each year they play.

Not that simple, as probably more white suburban kids (with better access to better high school educations) are opting out of football and basketball to play lacrosse and baseball. I have been noticing this trend the past decade or so. If you are a white suburban kid with better school options you get better options in college. If you are said kids mom, baseball is way safer to steer your kid for a scholly.

I agree with the premise. However, you are delusional if you think Vanderbilt plays with 11.7 scholarships. Moms don't turn down $1mm signing bonuses for the privilege of paying 2/3 of a $50k tuition.

How many players get $1 million signing bonuses? And what are the stats of people drafted vs people who actually have a good career in the pros? I don't know the answer to either of those questions, but I bet the moms do. It's not as simple as all that. And, yes, Vandy hands out academic and need-based scholarships. But it hands those out to anyone who qualifies, not just athletes. If that made a huge difference, one would expect to see places like Harvard and Dartmouth ruling the college sports world, because they do exactly the same thing. They don't do atheletic scholarships but they can certainly make up for that with other types.

If I am a middle class mom I know that 1 million (if they make it to the pros) is only 400K or so after agents and taxes. Sure that seems like a lot, but a degree from VU can translate to 100K or more per year for life. Once you get past say 5 years, that degree will be worth way more than the baseball career even if it is not as sexy. besides, if your son the ballplayer meets a wealthy sugar momma at VU he is set for life.

As for 11.7 scholarships, few sports are full ride deals. Most are a mixture of athletic and academic. I know this is the case for most all women's sports even at the state schools. I know some female juniors and seniors who got the first year of grad school paid with 80% academic and 20% sports scholly's.

Sure they could; if they cared about baseball as much as UVA, Vandy, Miami and TCU (except for the climate). They would have to build indoors.

I dunno. Climate notwithstanding, the passion for baseball is probably even greater up north than it is down here.

You meant to say upper class mom. Middle class moms don't have $40k/yr to throw at a school in hopes of their son finishes school so he can make those $100 salaries.
