I guess you think he couldn't do that at Arkansas.

My gut reaction was to flame, but you sir have a very valid point.

It's not that Les couldn't do that at Arkansas - I think it's more of an issue that I don't think Les could do that in a short time frame (which really doesn't pertain to the question asked by the OP although "happy" is rather vague).

That being the case, I've changed my mind based on your points and concede I was wrong in my previous assertion

I get lucky every once in awhile

I flame Arky all the time so no issue

again, I don't want him to leave. My point is Arky could do much much worse. If Arky did pull it off it would be a coup for ya'll, that's just me

That idiots net worth is drastically more than yours, I assume. I think that's probably a fair assumption too.

I don't know very many idiots who make $4,000,000 a year.

God no.

I don't think I could stand another level of butthurt that would occur when he came to DIRECTLY to Alabama from LSU.

LSU fans are already rabid about Saban who left LSU for an NFL job. Imagine if Miles came here directly.

Discussed this at lunch with four Alabama fans.
None would take Miles at Ala if a meteor hit Saban, but ALL want him to stay at LSU....

I'd take Miles in a heartbeat... I will admit, that I used to to think he was a bit of a dufus and was riding on wave that Saban created. At this stage, in the game, he has proven to be a helluva recruiter, his teams are big, fast, physical, and VERY good... The defense, that he had last year was outright frightening!!! One of the best, I'd ever seen.

Les has PROVEN to be an elite coach and I would take him in a heartbeat!!

I'm of the opinion that he came in, and has maintained the program which Bernie Moore built (seriously not flaming here).

Fixed.

Yes. Miles is quirky and he's made some calls and decisions that leave me scratching my head. But at the end of the day, wins is all that counts and Miles has accumulated a pile of them at LSU. Sure, he inherited a great program but so what if he won with Saban's players? He could have just as easily lost with those players. And the last recruits signed by Saban left in 2008 and LSU hasn't exactly crashed and burned since then. He's also the only coach in the SEC who has been able to go toe to toe with Saban. Every game has been an absolute war that brings out the best in both teams, the lone exception being the BCSNC. Miles is obviously a hell of a coach and I don't understand some of the hate he gets from the Tiger fan base. They must not remember the Mike Archer-Curley Hallman-Gerry DiNardo days.

No way. Les is a mess! He can recruit but has never impressed me as coach on the field. He should kiss the ground everyday for his defense or he would have a 6-6 team every year.

I think he laid a pretty decent foundation at Ok St tbh. They seem to be doing OK since he left his former OC at the helm.

I swear to God I still get amazed every now and then by shite I read on here. So what you are saying is that is if Les didn't have such a good team then he wouldn't win as much? Duhhhhhh.

Saban should kiss the ground too because without his defense he would be even worse than Les. Maybe 4-8m

Sumlin? Well without his offence he would be something like 2-10.

I like this game.

Les is a good coach at not taking a step backwards. He did a good job of winning with Saban's players at the beginning and using that momentum, locked down LA and kept recruiting at a high level. He has made some pretty good hires for assistant coaches but has made some questionable game day descisions.

Les is a good coach for a program that is already winning at a high level. I'm not sure how he would do building one. He wouldn't fit at OM but would have done pretty well at Ark.

Naw, I used to think only Auburn & Bama cheated. Then I got my head out of my arse and realized everyone cheats.

I wouldnt trade anyone for Saban. If we did not have Saban I would definitely take Miles as our coach.

Ditto - Also, leave play calling in the final minutes of the game to his assistants.
