That's true about another QB getting sacked a lot. Marshall escaped a lot of pressure.

Roc is a freak but in true freshman form he is inconsistent and limited. Artis-Payne is average overall. I cant believe Barber has just disappeared. our play calling hasnt done anything to help these matters either. and we are still 5-1...because of Marshall, not in spite of him.

The "grass is always greener" conundrum. Maybe MSU wins by 30 with Johnson in the game?

FIFY

Marshall does overthrow some, but our WRs drop a lot too. Cant put it all on Marshall.

I'm confused... what are "Auburn's problems"? Just because you lost to us on the road in a game where both teams played equally sloppy in a virtual statistical toss up doesn't really say anything bad about you.

I saw Auburn with the best defense we've seen thusfar this year by a notable margin, and the best I've really seen film on other than arguably Ole Miss. You were better than I thought you were on that side. You came into our game with a tremendous gameplan and limited our run game more than I thought you would be able to. Your linebacker play and tackling is almost unfathomably improved. I also saw you have more success running the ball against us than I expected.

I don't get the idea that there is alot to question from that outing by Marshall. It was basically what we do. You are going to win 10-11 and could easily get back in the playoff discussion. At some point, you've just got to trust your coaches to do what's best for the team. Does Johnson somehow avoid the tipped passes that cost you?

Depending on how mobile Johnson is, MSU could have destroyed him.

Fans can be idiots. As the rant proves. Auburn is fine…we have some weaknesses which MSU exploited but we have this week to iron it out. If we do we'll be a 10-11 win team with a shot at a the playoff and maybe more. If not we'll be a 9-10 win team playing a decent bowl.

Rumor is that he is still having trouble picking up the offense...

When did I put it all on Nick Marshall?

I simply stated Jeremy Johnson would mesh better with the weapons out wide because he is a better passer.

Sorry, but in case you hadn't been lurking our recruiting threads frequently enough, Sean White has been deemed to short to play QB . . . /ducks

For the 2014 offense, Jeremy Johnson would probably be the better fit. We have so many weapons out wide on offense. Sammie Coates, Duke Williams, CJ Uzomah, RiCardo Louis, Melvin Ray, Quan Bray and so forth... Jeremy Johnson would sling the ball all over the yard like we saw against a much improved Arkansas defense. We would almost definitely pass for over 300 yards every game and Jeremy Johnson would likely be in the Heisman race.

I think this is the biggest assumption that Auburn Fans calling calling for JJ are making. However, as has been stated, the fact that we can't pass block would likely negate this with a non-experienced QB.

However, with all of that being said, Nick Marshall has only lost 3 games as Auburn's starting quarterback and he lead us to both the National and SEC Championship last year. He's extremely clutch at the end of the game and he's trusted by the staff. You cannot replace him right now. You don't try to fix what isn't broken. He's been so much better than any opposing fans care to admit. He has a cannon for an arm, improved passing and is one of the fastest players in the SEC.

This is how I feel about Marshall. The dude has ice water in his veins and I hope we get things turned around so that he gets the recognition he deserves. Not only from outsiders but from Auburn fans as well.

No real major issues. We are not as strong run blocking and MSU's strong DL exposed that as did KST. Marshall has some inconsistent throws at times and our receivers drop at times. Our OL also got beat Sat and passes were tipped and defended well.

We don't need wholesale changes we just need to keep improving and play more sound football. We also make penalties that have hurt us. Nothing different than any other teams struggle with.

Jeremy will get his chance, and it is so simple to just assume JJ would be the better choice in certain situations. Marshall is the starter for a reason, and sometimes you just have to trust the coaching staff is putting the best personnel on the field.

We got outplayed Saturday and MSU's defense made us look bad at times, at least enough times to win the game. No need for major changes imo.

I was just pointing out that JJ wont do any better than Marshall if our WRs can't be more consistent catching the ball. They drop a lot. Marshall has done a solid job. I would rather bring in another RB over CAP. He just cant hit the holes hard enough to be anything close to what Mason was. With as much hype as Mason rec'd last year, I still say he was underrated.

Marshall is definitely not the problem for the team. I think Johnson will be good, but this is Marshall's team. IT is funny how quickly things change. Last year, I was hoping to get to nine wins, this year, we are upset we lost to what looks to be the best team in the country right now.

No. Nick Marshall with misdirection plays are downright dangerous.

The problem is the times where you try to make him a more traditional quarterback instead of using his strengths. At Bama we are trying to do that with a Marshall-lite QB and it just looks awkward as hell. I wish we would use more misdirection plays instead of pretending that Blake Sims fits in an AJ McCarron role.
