Non Bama Fans - Who do you want/not want Bama to hire?

From my view everyone is a bit of a step down from Saban.
I think Lanning, DeBeor, & maybe Norvell (not sure here) represent a group that would do extremely well.
No one else really worries me. I would enjoy seeing Bama steal someone in the conference for the chaos.
Dabo is the guy who scares me the least. I think he's had success, but I think he's probably capped at 9-10 wins most years. Bama won't accept that right after Saban.

They literally had the greatest coach in the history of the sport. There isn't a human being on earth that would make me worry.

Doesn't matter to me at this point because all the guys I did not want them to hire have decided to stay where they are so I'm good with whoever it may be. Main thing is that it's not going to be Saban

I think Smart would be a small upgrade at this point, but he's not realistic. Saban as a whole (the GOAT) is not the same as Saban in 2023.

I want coach O just because I like listening to him do interviews. With Mike Leach no longer with us, CFB is way down on characters.

I just posted in another thread, the thing that makes me nervous is if this drags out too long, they start throwing huge money and try to pry someone experienced away within the SEC. Brian Kelly seems happy at LSU, but he has no reason to turn down a huge payday to go to Tuscaloosa for 4-5 years, as a bridge to the next era.
He doesn't have any ties to LSU, he came simply for the money and a chance to win titles. You could argue that Bama is actually a better location for that. He's experienced and old enough that he could handle the spotlight there and not implode, which a lot of these younger guys would likely do.

No idea how someone like DeBeor would do. Crapshoot there.
Kiffin doesn't scare me. He'd do well but he'd probably have a flame out, I don't think he can hold a program like that together. Sounds like he's not an option anyway.
I'll run counter to everyone else, I think Dabo is probably the most likely to take the program and keep it elite for a long period of time. Not confident in that, but he knows how to operate a championship program and he knows Alabama. I know he's a goofball and doesn't like NIL and whatever, but it makes no sense not to take a chance on Dabo.

Yeah, Dabo is a good choice.
I think Bama needs to abandon the "hot young coaching prospect" idea, and go get someone who's capable of handling a big-time program internally. Because, let's acknowledge this: Bama is the biggest program out there. It's going to be like stepping into a 3 Ring Circus, probably even compared to a place like LSU. Trying to implement "your own system" will be a no-go, there will be resistance from the AD, boosters, all the way down to the waterboys and trainers... because what Saban did, worked for them. People will be looking cross-eyed at the new guy any time he tries to change anything.
It would have to be either someone with enough weight to say "well I'm doing it this way, and I whooped your arse like this"- a Dabo, maybe; or someone internal who could try to carry it over and be willing to ride the slow decline- their own version of Solich.
Anything else, and that place will go nuclear in a couple seasons.
