Seriously think about if a coach would go coach Wyoming and turn them into a top 25 team annually. That's about what he has done

Futility U KANSAS STATE, WINLESS SINCE 1986, HAS ONE CLAIM TO FAME: IT IS AMERICA'S MOST HAPLESS TEAM

You don't take a program from that to where they were and are again by being overrated.

In his first 17-year stint as head coach at K-State, Snyder won 136 games – as many as his predecessors had won from 1935 to 1988 – and led Kansas State to eleven consecutive bowl games (1993–2003), including six wins.

In 23 years at Kansas St. Bill Snyder has won 180 games. From 1926-1988 (Snyder took over in 89) they won 180 games. So maybe watch or research some football before saying something so stupid.

Also Bill Snyder is the only coach in Kansas State history to have a team finish the season in the top 25 of the AP or Coaches Poll.

Ever.

Give it up OP, the rant has spoken, and amazingly I agree with the far majority of replies. Look at the stats...he won as many games in his first 17 years as they had won the previous 53 years. What other coach has done that?

Look at that game tonight, Auburn had so much more talent and it was obvious but you could argue that KSU blew it. He is damn good coach.

Didn't A&M only win one Big 12 Title during that time frame?

I'm pretty sure only Texas, OU, and Nebraska won more. Nobody is calling him an all-time great, and it's incredible what he's done with little talent in that state and Nebraska having a monopoly over the Midwest for most of that time

Hell I will. Just off this blurb from Wikipedia:

quote:

Bill Snyder took over a program that had the worst record in NCAA Division I-A (FBS) history at the time and had gone 27 consecutive games without a win (0-26-1) dating to October 1986.[17] From 1935-1988, last year before Snyder took over for 1988-1989 season, Kansas state has won 137games in total. Snyder then presided over one of the most successful rebuilding projects in the history of college athletics.

Considering the dreadful state of the program he'd inherited, Snyder made the Wildcats respectable fairly quickly. In his third year, 1991, Snyder's Wildcats finished 7–4 and narrowly missed receiving the school's second bowl bid ever. The team also finished with a winning record in conference play for only the third time since winning the conference title in 1934.

The man is worshiped as a god in Manhattan. The main road into town is the Bill Synder Family Highway. He is one of only 4 FBS coaches to have coached in stadiums name after themselves (Bama, BYU, and Auburn are the other schools on this list).

I don't care what Snyder might have done coaching for a powerhouse, the man took literally the worst team ALL TIME in the FBS in 1989 and made them respectable over almost 30 years. No one has matched that. No one likely ever will.

I'm a huge fan of Auburn but no one can say the Purple Wizard hasn't earned his due. He took Kansas State from one of the worst teams in FBS to one of the best. He left and they promptly fell of the map for a bit until he came back. Guy has earned his respect

Somehow the bastard managed to unite the SECr DURING football season by sacrificing himself for 3 consecutive pages (and counting) of all-out lambasting.

A brutal, yet impressive self-immolation, to be sure
