I have no problem with kids getting paid but wow...

quote:

Pitt Head Coach Pat Narduzzi says on @937theFan that he's heard 2 schools offered UNC QB Drake Maye $5 million to transfer. Wont's say who. But he knows who. Wow. Says it's gotten out of control and it's only going to get worse. Quote: "It's a sad, sad deal."

He says that because his school can't pay that much.

What we could collectively do to correct this is stop watching. The lack of ratings would force things to change. But that would never happen.

You have to believe Florida is one of them.

Some of us predicted this would happen.

To be fair, Bryce has an SEC Championship and a Heisman Trophy.

How much did he make before last year? What did Saban say he was gonna make prior to 2021?

OR, he cares about the game of college football like many others and realizes this is unsustainable for 90% of the programs in College football.

NIL and portal free agency will destroy collegiate athletics.

The easiest way to fix it is to give it a cap. 100k.

That way all programs have equal fight for all players.

I'm sorry but he "heard stuff", he says it's a sad deal, but he won't name names? Anonymous sources and unwillingness to call anyone out accomplishes nothing.

even if his school could pay that much, no kid playing college football is worth that much. this NIL crap is totally out of hand.

There is no chance they will ever be able to do that. They have already created an NIL for highschool at this point. The biggest problem that ever existed was that the NFL couldnt create a remotely self sustaining minor league. The option to get drafted out of highschool should have always existed and just put together a farm club that you can raise players from and send back down as needed or whenever theyre ready, like all other pro sports. Instead the players in College think that they're the reason anyone watches and it has nothing to do with the school. It doesnt matter though, its done. I dont think there is any coming back from this.

and Nick Saban said that 8&4 bought all their players. When challenged he walked it back faster than a 12 legged crab.

Don't run your mouth unless you're prepared to back it up.

Is that fair to players? Basically limits their earnings pool.

There was a cap. It was $0, but the courts said "NO." Try to impose a $100K cap, and it's going to get the same result in court...some kid(s) will be able to argue that his/her/their brand is worth more, and the cap will get the boot.

So you think the kids shouldn't get paid?

Also, if schools can't compete, they should drop down to a lower division.
