It's no secret that I don't like Saban, but I gained a lot of respect for him from this.

I'm not trying to be paranoid, but that could have been pointed at LSU. We definitely lost toughness and discipline this year. Auburn, to their credit, did not.

No one knows that better than a guy who's coached at LSU and Bama.

Then again Nick is the reason our fan base is never satisfied anymore

I could see her with, or without, any variety of suits.

I wouldn't mind strapping her to my face like an oxygen mask and humming "Flight of the Bumblebee".

No one will ever be satisfied, and I hope I never live in a country where that idea would be the norm. Football grew out of "Kicking the Dane's Head," and was a good substitute for attacking the neighboring village with axes and pitchforks. Sports became an outlet where you could beat someone without killing them. The extra added bonus was you could play them next year.

Always show mercy and compassion when you've won. That's the human thing to do, but please don't give me this "satisfied" shite.

I'm not a big fan of Tubby, but Saban was definitely tugging at my heart strings when I saw the video of it on the news. It's much more compelling than reading it. He seemed very disturbed and uneasy/speechless about the news.

To a certain degree I think he's wrong. No BCS school fanbase should just sit around and go being the second because program in state is OK!

I'm not saying Tubbs should or shouldn't have been forced out, but the concept that fans just accept not being good is ludicrous.

This is nothing new for Saban. He has made comments like this before when coaches have been let go.

As a matter of fact, when in Miami denying he would be the Alabama coach he commented about how Shula was a good coach only one year removed from 10 wins and was done wrong by the Alabama administration.

So when he says "I guess we're one 5-7 away from the same thing" he believes it.

I guess from a human standpoint, CNS has been vilified as money-grubbing mercenary, and maybe he was trying to express a little compassion for a foe. I can give him a pass on that.

OTOH, several guys on the '66 Bama team couldn't pass an Army physical with broken vertebrae and knee injuries, but that didn't keep them from playing. After the Notre Dames played Mich St for a tie, Bryant said several of his players would be going to Vietnam, and he hoped they wouldn't be playing for a tie.

I'm not saying he's bad for saying this, and for what its worth CNS hasn't really done a ton of money grubbing. Bobby Petrino is much worse when it comes to that.
