2012: None.

2011:
LSU: elite schedule, defense, and special teams
It will be difficult to surpass this season.

Alabama: DEFENSE! Inarguably a top 3 defense of the BCS era. They epitomized efficiency. They had an off game against Georgia Southern and yielded 341 yards and 14 points; 121 of those yards and the 14 points came from 2 big plays. They set a standard that won't be beaten in a real conference anytime soon.

2010: None.

2009: None.

2008:
Florida: If it weren't for an uncharacteristic showing against Ole Miss, this team's lowest margin of victory could've been 10 points. It's hard to go undefeated.

That's as far back as I'll go. The SEC standings those years eliminate all but one or two teams from the discussion every year anyways.

This is not a flame thread. I understand that many of us are impassioned fans whose programs are making history/having unprecendented success or have been on the verge of winning it all. You may want to look up the meaning of the word "predominant" before you post an argument.

We'll know plenty after Week 7 (Oct. 12).

DISCUSS.

Not really uncharacteristic for Ole Miss to win....when it comes to playing Florida.

Yet you leave out the two teams that did just that in 09 and 10?

A phallus. Consume one and perish, please.

Wait a minute, I thought we were friends, and now you're hating on my beloved Volunteers. Very sad face.

I would've included them on this list if it weren't for the "Third Saturday in October" and "Iron Bowl" games. Running the ball is supposed to be Alabama's strength, yet their offense struggled against their unranked rivals. Please explain how we can excuse those two performances.

What the frick?

If you mean "who was understood to be the dominant team in the SEC by Week 7" then...

2009: Florida, duh. Alabama was still considered the challenger, Florida was the destined repeat.

2010: I think we knew when Florida and Alabama had both been defeated, LSU was struggling against the likes of McNeese State and Vanderbilt and Auburn had just rallied big and looked like a team destined to win that Auburn was the team to beat that year.

2012: Uh... Alabama? How is this a question? Yeah you had a lot of teams in the hunt, but you had two unbeatens by this point (Alabama and Florida), one of these teams was the defending national champion, the other was coming off back-to-back .500 seasons. Pretty obvious who the frontrunner was.

2008 I'll give you, after Ole Miss upset Florida and Alabama upset Georgia, we didn't know who would come out on top. Turned out to be Alabama and Florida, but neither team was the clear-cut people's favorite.

2014 Gamecocks.

Gun Blazin', Cock Slangin', and Rock Smashing.

But seriously, we'll be really good.

Gardevoir is a Pokemon

For this year, I really don't think there will be a team that is just much better than everyone else. Based on the Top 10 finishes last year by SEC teams, it's hard to see one team dominating another. Sure, Alabama may easily win it again, but they will probably face some tough challenges.

I'm a fan of neither team, and I did not check the series history. I took the word uncharacteristic from the Wikipedia game summary.

So, I suppose you don't understand the meaning of the word "predominant"? I can give you 2009 Alabama, but I'd first like to know what was up with their rivalry performances. We cannot forget those two games.
Auburn 2010 was hardly predominant; they were just a great second half team with only 3 players whose names we all remember. This was their year, but in other years they wouldn't have even won their division. Mississippi State, Clemson, South Carolina (game 1), Kentucky, LSU, and Alabama (Oregon?).

Thanks. I edited the title. I was looking up a good word, and it slipped my mind that predominate and dominate have the same form.
