If they can't, then they don't deserve to be in college. By no means does someone have to be smart to make these grades, they'll just have to put forth some effort and if they can't then I guess they can enjoy working at McDonald's instead of in the nfl.

Actually, for two straight years we have redshirted a player because of academics coming out of highschool. Trevonte Valentine, and now Chicki Valentine. No relation.

We redshirt almost all freshmen anyway so not really going to affect us.

2.3 is a solid C. All this is asking is for these kids to go to school and be average in the class room.

If the high schools cheat around this rule, the kids will find academic probation in college.

Colleges will pressure high schools to achieve better results by avoiding those who cheat and create down-stream probations that result in loss of playing time/productivity.

It all seems like a pretty reasonable approach, IMO.

Actually nope,
Hugh freeze has been recruiting intelligent players prep school guy from New York, Nashville so forth... Now though our batesville pipeline may be in trouble...

But for the most part this group recruits a more intelligent type of player than say orgeron or nutt had recruited previously.

For that reason I would say a few of those Louisanna athletes and auburn/Tennessee guys may have to come up with alterior plans.

Butch is star chasing and you know if they buy into that shite, they can't be the sharpest tool in the shed ... Aside from dobbs whose gonna be a rocket scientist...

Rebel players are so smart they thought they either go Ivy or Ole Miss, we get it.

The two MS schools are almost dead last in the academic rankings for Sec football teams since Brother Freeze has been there.

So if they are smart coming in, they are dumber than most heading out. Well done

Stupid rule considering such a high number of athletes don't even do their school work and still pass...

Even more players will be screwed. There are lots of great athletes that will be unable to meet the requirements. What's their alternate route to the NFL? (there isn't one)

JUCO? Get the GPA/academics in line while still playing ball, maturing physically, etc. and a power program will take notice.

You're approaching this question a little backwards. It's not a question of "who is going to have the most potential players affected?" You need to ask "who is going to hurt the most by having 3 and done players only play 2 years." All of State's freshmen get redshirted anyways. Ole Miss might be more affected, but the real losers at the teams who count on NFL prospects the most.

Admission standards don't come into play because everyone in the SEC uses the NCAA standards for athletes, even Vandy.

I'm all in for it. Without a god given Atheltic ability they wouldn't even sniff a college classroom; that goes for all SEC schools minus Vandy.

Once again these are almost identical to existing NCAA requirements save raising the GPA from 2.0 to 2.3 and
completeing 10 of the 16 before your Sr year.IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL.

Georgia's requirements are more stringent than the NCAA already so this doesn't affect us at all.
