Transitivity doesn't work in college football. It's almost like a whole new season in one game.
Whoever shows up more prepared and executes more precisely will win the game.
My Bama buddy says "If I play my 'A' game, and ND plays his 'A' game (sic), then I win."
I respectfully disagree. Bama has more top-tier athletes, IMHO, but ND has enough to win the game.
I would favor Bama slightly in that they have more experience in a championship environment and better QB play. That should be enough.
But will it?

Bama hasn't played nearly the schedule ND has. It's not even close.
On the other hand, it's very hard imagining Bama in double OT with Pitt. The SEC as a whole has more quality wins than any other conference, and Bama is the champion. Yeah, Carolina and Georgia beat B1G teams, one of which ND beat, but it's not like those were blowouts.
I think Bama's the better team, but it's not like ND stinks.

Bama also played Michigan. I see your list there and I raise you this:
I deliberately left out:
Boston College - 2 wins (one of them was over a team on their 5th string QB. Even lost to ARMY)
Wake Forest - another pathetic ACC school
Miami - a team that voluntarily removed themselves from bowl and championship consideration...lost to VIRGINIA

Let the Alabama hate go.
Notre Dame played a bunch of mediocre teams that boost strength of schedule. What's harder- going 12-0 and never playing an FCS or good team or going 12-1 playing really good teams and FCS teams?
If you picked the former, you are a moron. Notre Dame's Bowl opponents played 7 unranked teams. 5 of the bowl opponents were annihilated. They went 3-6 with the only easy win coming over perennial contender San Diego State. Bama had 6 bowl opponents. They played 5 ranked teams. They went 3-3. Two teams Bama played destroyed teams that played Notre Dame close. They played no one.

How do you get Bama hate out of what I wrote?
"It's very hard to imagine Bama in double OT with Pitt."
"I think Bama's the better team."
Bama fans have more to brag about than any fans in college football. They're also the most insecure. More than Tennessee fans -- and that takes a hell of a lot.

Who's the Barn playing Elvis?

Obscene use of the transative property
1. Missouri > Arizona State > Navy
2. Missouri > Arizona State > Arizona > Oklahoma State > Purdue
3. Georgia > Nebraska > Michigan State
4. 27 point win over Michigan > 7 point win over Michigan
5. Georgia > Vanderbilt > Wake Forest > Duke > Virginia > Miami
6. LSU > Washington > Stanford
7. LSU > Washington > Oregon State > BYU
8. A&M > Oklahoma by 28 points, but only 5 better than Alabama
9. Ole Miss > Pitt
10. EVERYBODY > Boston College

Oh, that shut me up. Since I so clearly hate Bama. We've had Bama fans starting Auburn threads the very week they're playing for a championship.
But they're not sensitive....

Oddly enough, Sagarin says their strength of schedules are actually quite close.

Wrong link on Sagarin. But I don't think the two are all that close.
It's not Bama's fault their schedule was down this year. Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee were awful. That left them with LSU as a signature win, then Georgia.
But you can say the same about ND. They played Stanford, SoCal, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Miami -- how do you not admire the schedule they set up? What does Stanford's season look like if they beat ND? Every team they scheduled was in a bowl this year or last, except BC and Wake. That's impressive as hell.

Those are solid "name" universities. But quite a few of them underperformed.
Georgia, LSU, and A&M. All trump anyone on ND's schedule.

I think Stanford trumps each one of those three. I can see how you could think differently, but Stanford looks solid to me.
