Coaches should have let him off the hook.
Coaches and AD dept are to blame. You cannot expect a worker to walk off the job, even a less-than-minimum wage student job.
He was probably paying his meal money that way.
I worked for the AD when I was in school.
They expect you to show up and do your thing without having to babysit you.
So it goes. Sounds like he was at peace with it, in some humorous way.
This may contribute to the end of Kelley. His 4-4 record is bad.

The uproar is just beginning-calls for Brian Kelly's head, major lawsuits and such. There have been no official release of info as to why the young man who tweeted about the unsafe conditions before the accident was up there in the first place...

I know at ND, certain student managers get a full ride. That's essentially a $50,000/year job. I don't know exactly how much he got, but it might have been a nice chump of change. To walk off and risk losing it when someone's telling you it's safe...

I don't mean for this to sound bad (though it might come out that way), but at least he died doing something he loved.

I'm sure the guy probably gets treated like crap and didn't wanna complain. He probably wanted to get down and was halfway joking and halfway serious about the thing falling over. I hate all the lawsuits in this country these days, but this definitely deserves it.

Here is a piece from a Rivals free article from the Notre Dame site... this part is very disturbing to me:
quote:
Now there were several sirens blasting, and Notre Dame personnel were directing people away from the intersection. I was asked to leave the area, so I retreated to my car to wait and see what would happen next. I was surprised to still hear whistles from the football field, which told me that practice was still being conducted.

Einstein,
You might want to read the article. The accident had occurred, yet ND continued to practice!

That will come back to bite them in litigation!

The kid posted tweets knowing he was in danger and did nothing about it. That part I just don't understand.
Its not hard to understand. It's human nature to be obedient to authority.
