Finally some new information...
quote:
The NCAA says LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade either arranged for or offered "impermissible payments" to at least 11 potential recruits or others around them, according to documents obtained Wednesday by ESPN.
The documents say the NCAA's enforcement staff received information that Wade "arranged for, offered and/or provided impermissible payments, including cash payments, to at least 11 men's basketball prospective student-athletes, their family members, individuals associated with the prospects and/or nonscholastic coaches in exchange for the prospects' enrollment at LSU."

This is going to be very, very bad for LSU.
Somebody else chime in here... it sounds like LSU opened themselves up to an accusation of Lack if Institutional Control by keeping Wade employed and being unable to force him to cooperate?
quote:
In a July 15 letter, NCAA vice president of enforcement Jonathan Duncan wrote that the case satisfies at least five of the seven factors for referring the case to the IARP.
"Many of those factors are triggered by the actions of Will Wade, head men's basketball coach at Louisiana State University," Duncan wrote. "Some of his underlying actions gave rise to this case and his tactics during the investigation have delayed resolution dramatically. He is employed in a leadership position at LSU, yet the institution has been unable to secure his full cooperation and is accountable for his behavior."

He probably did, but this:

This seems to be what the NCAA is focusing on. He won’t cooperate fully, and the institution is responsible for that. Yikes.

Whether he did or he didn't the NCAA is a joke! You telling me that ALL the so called blue bloods don't pay their players,
If they want to break this cycle then they all need to go down and not just Will Wade and LSU!

Doesn't matter. You can't be that sloppy and get caught for it. Whatever happens now is all on Wade (if they indeed have documentation of payments).

If falling on the sword is what it takes to compete I’m all for it
We tried the coach that wouldn’t cheat and Trent Johnson will never be a head coach again

Yeah I couldn't care less that he cheated. You just can't be dumb enough to talk about it on the phone as the head coach. You have to have someone else doing that. The majority of teams cheat. You just can't get caught and then cry about it if you do.

I've been saying this since February of 2019. It's baffling.
Their fans are just as bad for bragging about his cheating.

Who cares that they cheated?
Refusing to firing him was complete Bjork-tier dumbassery and may tank their program.

Certainly why LSU is now desperate to separate any football sanctions from the basketball program. If this ends up being an Kansas situation all over again, that would be devastating to a football program that just won a title. Considering where this originates from (time wise), that would be brutal.

Case in point though.
When a blue blood is caught, they admit and then brace for punishment. Alabama was just slow to work with the NCAA for the Means' case, and look what happened.
LSU's head coach literally flipped the NCAA the bird and told them to frick off. Your AD supported it and the fan base cheered it on. It's the same thing as working out a plea deal and being polite to the judge vs tell him that you banged his mom and then taking a piss on the bailiff. One gets you a couple years probation, the other gets you 5-10.

Damn. That’s really bad.

And we consider ourselves a first world country.
