NCAA question

Let's say the power 5 confrences banded together and wanted nothing to do with the NCAA. Is there anything holding them back from doing so? What makes the NCAA so important to major college athletics? It seems they need the big time programs more than they need them.

No. It should be done sooner rather than later.

The last programs to stand up to the NCAA were OU and UGA. You have them to thank for modern college sports. But the power 5s wont do anything that bold. They are still bringing in lots of money.

There's nothing to stop them. However, it would just be replacing one NCAA with another.

so you mean throw all the rules out the window or keep them and pretend that schools like yours would actually follow any of them?
seriously some of you are just the dumbest motherfukkers on the planet.

They did already, with the whole cost of attendance!

So it's all basically a sham. The NCAA knows they are pretty much disposable at anytime.

It would be pretty difficult to get the majority to follow so you would at least have to have the power programs on board. It has been talked and attempted before.

Like I said Ou and UGA took the NCAA to court when they were limiting the number of games each school could have on TV. All the other power schools left OU and UGA out to dry. You will never get enough schools on board.

Back in the day Bear was part of a movement to step away and form the CFA, I think is what it was going to be called.

I tend to think of the NCAA as primarily a PR firm, much like the NFL league offices are. The owners can do whatever they want, but its easier to use Goodell to be the mouthpiece and take all the flack.

The new governing body will be the NCXIV since it was my idea.

You're welcome for all your TV money, everybody.

And they've fricked us over ever since.
All hail our NCAA overlords.

Aint that the truth. Not long after the sanctions came down on both programs. They certainly went digging.
