With how often we get close to winning without getting a National title, I want to win in gymnastics way more than I should.

Women's basketball gets more attention nationally than women's gymnastics and is 2nd only to softball in terms of overall interest and viewership among women's sports but I'd argue that women's gymnastics is not far at all behind women's basketball and is a fairly close 3rd in viewership and attendance. In fact, historically strong women's gymnastics programs outdraw many of the best women's basketball programs attendance wise.
I realize that Alabama women's gymnastics as one of the Top 4 or 5 programs of all time is an outlier but historically it has averaged 10,000+ attendance at home meets for years so the big time women's gymnastics programs like Alabama, Georgia, Utah, etc historically have actually been revenue neutral or almost revenue neutral programs unlike most women's basketball programs. That's nothing to sneeze at
