I don't see a big difference between the top 8 teams this year. A four team playoff does not give college football the best NC.

Unless LSU is controversially ranked #9, then 8 is not enough. Right?

It has nothing to do with LSU and everything to do with looking at the top 8 teams in this years final poll. Bama, ND, Florida, Georgia, Stanford, Oregon, Kansas State and Texas A&M are all worthy of playing in an NC playoff. Watching these 8 teams would be one of the most exciting football playoffs ever! The NFL can't hold a stick to this type of playoff.

This is exactly why I said a playoff would not solve the problem

When we get to 8, someone will want 16, etc etc

I just want a system where an undefeated team doesn't get shut out.

I want a system where the only way to guarantee a chance for the NC is to go undefeated. The BCS almost did this. In fact, only Auburn in 2004 is the only major team to ever be screwed. The BCS was almost PERFECT.

4 teams will solve everything. We will never have more than 4 undefeated major teams. Basically, in my view, if you lose any game whatsoever you have no right to complain. The only teams that ever DESERVE a bid are undefeated teams. Everything else is a crapshoot and you should be thankful for a bid if you have 1 or more losses.

Let's maintain the greatest regular season in sports. Please. I hate the bullshite meaninglessness of the regular season in other leagues.

ETA: Let college football be different. That's what makes it so great. Don't you see that? No other sport at any level has an awesome regular season like college football, and it's precisely because college football DOESN'T HAVE PLAYOFFS. Implement playoffs, and you lose that.

Well, my solution is not supported by anyone. I think the playoff structure is already in place. Only conference champions advance which brings more importance to regular season games and a conference championship. But too many people want to have a 2nd chance if you don't win your conference. I've never liked the wild card concept which is driven by television money.

I think if you have a playoff, you have to have wild cards or the playoffs will suck. Take this year, for example. Wisconsin at 7-5 gets in, but LSU, UGA, UF, USCe, and A&M don't? Ga Tech almost beat FSU for God's sake, they would get in over those teams?

Good point, just look at basketball. 68 get in now, and people still bitch about teams getting "screwed."

So NIU, Louisville, and Wisconsin > UF, UGA, and LSU?

Why not make it 16. I think 8 is convenient for LSU.

Contrary to my ex-girlfriend's belief, it's hard to please everyone.

4 team playoff prevents teams like 2004 Auburn, 2003 USC, 2011 Okie State, etc getting screwed. those teams deserved a shot.

with 8 team playoff regular season don't matter. I don't care what anyone says. 2012 LSU,S.Carolina etc don't deserve a shot.

You have the entire regular season to make the top 4. You're saying the regular season is better if the NC is just decided between the top 2? You're not making any sense.

4 - 16 team super conferences is where we are heading.
