The selection committee usually has one or two surprises.

Wondering, who comprises the selection committee for the NCAA tournament? Is there a criteria?

And, yes, I'm too lazy to research it.

The committee isn't going to give two SEC East teams a nod when the West is the harder division.

Yea they will if they're both still top 10 RPI and finish tied for the league crown or finish 1 & 2.

Kentucky doesn't need to win 5/6. They need to win both remaining series which in turn would give UF two losses as well. They need to win 4/6 and finish 1st or 2nd in the league. The West doesn't have a great shot at a national seed this season. Everyone is in the mid teens RPI wise. Just not happening. It would be a case like when Ole Miss split the SEC title a few years back and didn't get a national seed.

No, no, no, this is good. You want an ACC team in the postseason. You don't want to get a West coast dirtbag type team

Yep

The bottom four league teams are all that are below Auburn now in terms of RPI in the SEC.

I talked in a thread about thinking something weird was going to happen in the series, but still didn't think Bama would win the series much less sweep.

You keep skimming over the most important part of my post

If an SEC West divisional winner has a higher RPI or very similar to that of Kentucky the SEC West winner will get the nod.

Kentucky is at #8
Miss St is at #16
LSU is at #14
Arkansas is at #18

Let's be real at the same time I agree that Kentucky's RPI isn't going to falter much if they lose 1 or 2 to Florida but any hiccups to Tennessee and it will be detrimental.

The winner of the West will end up around the 20 win mark and would have won a series against a top 15-20 RPI team.

It's going to be closer than you think.

Kentucky is hosting Tennessee. They're not losing that series at home. No West team will have a higher RPI than Kentucky or Florida.

I understand you love the SEC West, but this year the West is comprised of good teams but nothing great. The East is weaker as a whole, but has the two best teams in the league as well.

There is actually no way AU can crawl out of the 37 RPI hole they've dug themselves at this point in the season.

If AU wins the series @LSU & OM + beats UAB, they have a shot at finishing top 15-20 RPI if they win the SECT

Every year except 2012 has had a double digit RPI national seed. AU with a sweep of a Natl' team and series wins against some ~8 top 30 RPI opponents is a #skrong resume

Keep in mind OU made a national seed at #22

None of that is happening with Auburn but, you knew that as you were typing it all out.

*OU was RPI #17 prior to being selected as a national seed. OU fell to #22 in the final RPI release after losing their regional to Arkansas. They also had a representative on the committee that season and it was the reason they got a national seed. Ole Miss was the more deserving team that season, sharing the SEC title with LSU.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm just cringing at all the people marking Florida and Kentucky as the National seeds from the SEC even acknowledging the SEC West winner may have a better record and almost similar RPI to that of Kentucky.

They've both had better collective seasons than anyone in the West. Neither of them have been swept this season in SEC play(State was swept by Arkansas). Both have won tough OOC games this season in midweek. Both are top 10 RPI teams that have proven to be at the top of the league throughout the season.

Kentucky can not blow the game tonight vs the Hoosiers and sweep the Vols for a national seed. If the Cats take one in Gainesville, I would be jumping for joy.

I hope you are right, but as we saw last week and several games lately, the Cats are suffering some major late season error games.
