Only the game is in the dome.

No one wants to travel to those cities in the winter for multiple days or a weekend. Its fricking miserable.

FYI, Nashville is cold as frick in January.

I live here and had 0 degree days, sheets of ice, snow, etc. during January plenty of time.

Not sure why people are shitting on Santa Clara that much. You can make trips out of it and it's a new expensive stadium (even if it is a horrific effort). It's not that cold. Like, at all.

Whoever wished for Orlando needs to GTFO. Find some other excuse for your Disney vacation, nobody wants another soulless game in that Godless town

Santa Clara? Better hope there's a West Coast team involved or that's going to be attended like the ACC Championship.

Such bullshite! How exactly are these selected? Why nothing in the North like Indianapolis, Minneapolis or Detroit?

Same reason they don't get Super Bowls-- no one wants to go to Detroit in January.

Minneapolis has character but is cold, Indianapolis is a like a collection of strip malls and chain restaurants connected by highway overpasses and ring roads, its as boring and blase as you can get in a major city-- think about it this way- people go on vacation to New Orleans and Miami - - no one goes to Indianapolis on vacation outside of the 500.

Warm weather places obviously have a big advantage in the winter. They are just much nicer to go to in December/January. If bowl games were played in July there would be much more push for Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, etc.

On top of that, retractable or domed stadiums have a big advantage b/c people who pay a bunch of $$ for tickets don't want to be sitting in the rain or snow for the big event. I think there are only currently 8 domed or retractable NFL stadiums. NOLA, Atlanta, St. Louis, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, Indy, and Phoenix (or their suburbs), with Minneapolis coming next year.

No surprise that Atlanta got one, they are a (mostly) warm weather city and will have a shiny new stadium. Decent choice, even though Atlanta isn't my favorite location. Easy to get to, new stadium, big city.

NOLA is, IMO the very best big event location. I think it should be in a regular rotation and host at least every 4 or 5 years. Warm weather, fun city, and a dome. The only places that can compete are Miami and San Diego which have better weather, but no domes. I think I read Miami has a proposal for adding a roof. If so they would be in a regular rotation. SD stadium needs a lot of work and the future of the Chargers in question, great destination city though.

Santa Clara is a bit more of a question mark. Chilly weather, I can't imagine it is much fun to visit (although obviously SF is cool) and an open stadium that has not been well recieved. I think they just felt pressure to have one non-Southern city. Doubt it will get a repeat.

I think both Minneapolis and Indy will eventually get one, but they are just going to have to be patient. Whenever the new team(s) moves to LA they will get one and prob be in a regular rotation. Nashville would be great if they had a dome, might still get one eventually.

Malik is pretty spot on. Detoilet should never be an option. I grew up in Cleveland and I love the city, but I'm I. Florida for the time being. Wife and daughter are eventually going back up North after the holidays. I'm down here for a contracting job in the Ft. Myers area. I enjoy the weather but I do miss the seasons. People here have been really cool. There is this Southern hospitality that rings true. I just wish that more of the Dixiecrats would realize the yanks aren't here to kick you out of your own towns. We spend money here and try to be respectful to you all. On the other hand, some of these northerners shouldn't be so cocky and act like they own these cities. I've enjoyed my stay in places like Warner-Robins, Tampa-Clearwater, Orlando and Destin & Hilton Head. To the South. Cheers to you

Just because you've gotten boring as you've gotten older, isn't New Orleans'fault.

You must be too young to remember. The Sugar Bowl was around long before the Dome. It was played in Tulane Stadium for many years (1935-1974),and most assuredly not in a dome. The first Sugar played in the dome was 1975.
