Wasn't LSU-ND a thing too?

Sort of - they played four times in the 90s and four times in the 80s

The strong Catholic roots in Louisiana and at the heart of Notre Dame give it more interest than you might think. That said, they've only played 10 times before this year's bowl game (the series is tied at 5 apiece).

1970 notre dame won on a bogus PI call at the 20 yard line (thereabouts) with under 4 minutes to go as I recall - think it was on Casanova and notre dame kicked a field goal wt win 3-0 in south bend! I listened with my dad on the radio. Hell of a defensive struggle. Theisman was qb for ND and then 1 year later ND played in tiger stadium and LSU won 28-8 (ND went for 2 late in the game down 28-0) in the 1970 game LSU as I recall both teams had the same amount of Catholics on the teams but in 1971 Lsu was all but 3 and ND was all but 6 and the advocate or picayune, one had God smiles on Catholics LSU wins 28-8!

Yes I started life misguided!

I just watched alittle bit of the 1971 game. Cool to see First Half Second Half

Some things I noticed:

We had 3 goal line stands & the student section got rowdier each time. Our D has been keeping us in games for a long long time

The shots around campus were cool. The trees have gotten so much bigger, especially in the quad

All the TV commercials were of gas/car companies.

LSU band still sounds the same & our jerseys haven't changed much. All is well with me
