Hugh Freeze should at least get an honorable mention here.

Several coaches have done this. I remember Tommy Tuberville did it at Auburn. The 2003 Auburn team had a lot more talent than 2004, but the offensive playcalling gelled more in 2004. I remember Ron Zook recruiting well and then Urban Meyer taking one of his teams to NC in his second year. Mark Richt's who career at Georgia was underachieving pro.

Meh, NFL is different from college. Don't know why people think this automatically correlates. Different game, different environments.

Montana was considered a very average college qb.
Brady would be lucky to even be drafted.
Ryan leaf was a can't miss
Tebow was a heisman winner

There is more different about the 2 games than is alike. Just like high school is to college.

There is no other coach that squandered like Miles. Glad he is gone.

Larry Coker did a pretty good job.

Butch Davis/Larry Coker -- came way with only one championship from one of the best collections of talent in CFB history.

Matt Luke has. On paper he's recruited a very good line who has underproduced since he stepped on campus. He should be coaching high school somewhere and way out of his league in the SEC with 4 and 5 star players. I feel bad for them, as they're not getting the football education they deserve.

Dave Wommack gets an honorable mention. He might not have a stacked team of seniors, but he has them playing as if they're a Sun Belt scout team. It's fricking pathetic.

Freeze gets the last honorable mention for allowing these two coaches under him to stay on the team for this long and is failing the kids.

You may want to change the parameters--- 2007 national title.

Honestly I would say Saban.

He has the #1 recruiting class every single season for the past 6+ years. All major recruiting sites agree.

No way Bama should lose to the likes of Oklahoma or Ohio State in the post season.

Bama should win the national championship every season.

Everyone is railing on LSU for backing down from all that forfeit talk and not being able to gain half a yard at home. But somehow, that is your takeaway. I love it.

SOS. Ridiculously talented teams throughout the 90's and only one NC to show for it.

One could argue that 90s were the peak on of competition. There were at last 6 other high level prograns any given year. Unlike now where it is basically Saban and Urban.

Only two coaches have finished AP#1 in the history of LSU football. Les is one if them.

Just let that shite sink in and tell me he didn't win crap.

He averaged like the #8 class at LSU. I think he's only had the top class in the sec 1 time. 2009. Those kids went 13-0 and won the sec.

Only one team wins it, so it looks like plenty of fricking coaches, including saban, squanders talent.

I didn't watch any of LSUs games this year but I assume Jimbo squandered Fournette.
