SEC Play:

Mizzou 14 @ Auburn 17
-Mizzou misses chip shot field goal to win. Then fumbles at the literal 1/2 yard line into the end zone to lose in OT.

Georgia 26 vs Mizzou 22
- Mizzou leads 52 minutes of the game. Had to settle for a FG when they got it to the 1 yard line that was the difference.

Mizzou 17 @ Florida 24
- Cook throws pick 6 and an awful INT inside the red-zone to lose.

Mizzou beats Vandy and South Carolina.

Kentucky 21 vs Mizzou 17.
- roughing the punter and a 3rd and 1 stop that was somehow ruled a 1st down and Levis scored a few plays later. Not to mention a very close fumble by Kentucky that was overturned(rightfully so I think) and they end up completing a 3rd and 14 I believe for a TD to win.

This season is a fricking shite ton of what ifs and close calls. Kept every game within a score. Brady Cook sucks dick and is the sole reason, in my mind, why we’ve lost the majority of these games.

missouri was expected to be crap so losing shouldn't be too much to deal with. I'll submit 2013 for us:

-lose season opener to clemson and our best WR is lost for hte season in the 1st qurater celebrating a TD
-while still mostly healthy, we beat two top-6 ranked teams over the next 3 weeks!
-win an OT squeaker over UT while losing much of our offense, this is a major sign of things to come
-lose the next week at home to relatively new comer missouri
-follow that up the following week with a loss to vanderbilt while losing 2 more WRs
-slog through a few more wins before having defeat ripped from teh jaws of victory in the prayer at jordan hare
-win a few more
-play lazy and uninspired ball in the gator bowl and lose to a mediocre big 10 team

eta: that was the first year that came to mind because it had promise and could've been good but had plenty of losses including the AU miracle. There have been plenty of years in my life (mainly the 90s) where we were dogshit but I figured those went without saying

I think we all have seasons like this. LSU 1998 jumps out for me. LSU lost a lot of close ones that year they could have and should have won. Georgia 28-27; Kentucky 39-36; Ole Miss 37-31; Alabama 22-16; Notre Dame 39-36.

I think Bama won the game on two long tds that were tipped passes. This was after Bama fans started clearing out of Tiger Stadium in the 4th quarter. And damn Quincy Carter.

UGA from 1980 to last year

UT from 2000 to now

Tide wandering the desert post Bear

Look, not saying your pain is not real, just saying when you expect a Natty every year, it is tough when the droughts last a generation

On the flip side, try being a SC or UK football fam, those are the guys I want in my foxhole when the ammo is gone as is hope of survival.

I found this from an article on Bleacher Report. I legit couldn't remember much of this game, considering it was 24 years ago...

quote:

LSU was 3:16 away from beating Alabama in Baton Rouge for the first time since 1969. Then, with a 16-7 lead, the Tigers defense caved in.

In less than a minute, Crimson Tide QB Andrew Zow hit RB Shaun Alexander on a 21-yard TD pass. Then Alabama recovered the ensuing onside kick at the LSU 40. With 38 seconds left on the clock, Zow found Quincy Jackson for the 25-yard game-winning TD pass. Zow completed the 2-point conversion pass to Michael Vaughn for the final score.

Basically the entire Shula era was us losing games like this.

3-0 - lose @ Arkansas 24-23 in OT on 2 missed FGs in regulation and a missed XP in OT

3-1 - lose @ #5 (future national champion) Florida 28-13 in a game we led until late in the 3rd and were driving to tie the game in the 4th when we threw a pick 6

5-2 - lose @ #7 Tennessee 16-13. Led for most of the game and also had an INT in which Simeon Castille was pushed out at the Tennessee 8 yard line and everyone knew the only way we'd score a TD was if he scored. He didn't, we kicked a FG. Led 13-9 for most of the 2nd half until Tennessee scored a TD with 3:30 to play.

After that the wheels fell off.

The 1998 game was insane and probably the most "Alabama never loses at LSU" game ever, if you were a fan of either team. Alabama sucked, had been dominated most of the game and then all of a sudden wakes up from the dead to score 2 TDs within like 90 seconds of eachother on tipped passes and an onside kick.

Missouri just wanted to lose that day. I thought Auburn has lost twice.

To your point, there’s always going to be some luck in a season, but it has been some awful luck for Missouri.

2013 was a typical season for Georgia during the Mark Richt era. Always a few games every year where the Dawgs don't even show up, and it could be against a good team or a bad one. But that's how it goes for a team that is out of shape and not very fundamentally sound.
