Bro I dislike Ole Miss as much as the next bloke but this is taking it a little too far... Might be time to take a step back and reassess your situation...

eh, people got annoyed that Tebow was more in your face about his beliefs, people got tired of listening to it. No one ever questioned his sincerity. People think Freeze is fake and uses his Christianity to manipulate people.

Unless it was some JoePa type stuff, I don't give a shite what he did. I want him as our coach as long as the NCAA allows it

He has specifically devoted time to providing clean drinking water in Haiti.

My God that is some good sarcasm.

Why don't you enlighten us to all of the hypocritical things that he has done? See, this pisses me off because when I was in high school, his wife taught at my school. They have always been open about their faith. He acted the same way then that he does now before he was ever known on any large scale. Aside from creating charities, working during the off-season to help people, and thanking God at every moment for what he has been blessed with, what exactly has the man done to burn your asses? He wins. That's all I can think of. It's easier to hate him if you stick a big label on him and say he is a hypocrite.

If Hugh Freeze is in fact willingly cheating then he is not representing Christianity.

What's interesting is Nick Saban openly does most of these things as well and he's the devil.

Perceptions and such

I believe he is a decent, religious man.

I'm sure he will be found totally innocent of any wrongdoing regarding the OM boosters running wild during his regime.

We'll see if he is "a great recruiter" when he starts following the NCAA rule book. As for him being a cheater, if in fact the Black Bears are found to be in violation of recruiting rules, then explain to me how the HC does not know how his program landed all those 5 star recruits from out of state. Did he realllly believe his staff if they told him they got all those signatures on LOI legally?

Arkansas doesn't really lose to him, and I don't like him either.
I think he is a charlatan. He professes his "good works" in an effort to hide his misdeeds. The world is full of men like him, and they're scum.

Besides which, the Bible he likes to quote also tells people not to practice acts of self righteousness before others. It's a grave sin, and he does it all the damn time. "Oh, the NCAA is breathing down my neck? Better make sure everyone knows I am taking water down to the Haitians. I also know the bible "inside and out"." Whatever. Dude is a slimeball.

You have a very narrow term of what the word cheat means

21st century's approach to disparaging all Christians. I've heard this line of reasoning to call out any Christian who's made a mistake. Because they are outspoken in their Christianity and they make a mistake or mistakes, then they are sleaze balls.

Christ is sometimes referred to as Son of David. All David did was seduce a married woman and then have his husband killed. Is Christ's lineage also depraved and sleazy?

I don't like the approach to Christianity as "those who don't talk about Christ can behave without judgment and those who profess Christ will be publicly scorned for any and all mistakes".

The Hugh Freeze hatred here is largely an extension of him beating your teams. The other forms of hatred being shown are people that are vehemently in opposition to anyone of faith.

Eh, I don't think that is the point of what people are saying (I'm not saying it, FYI).

They are saying that Freeze is consistently self-righteous. David sinned with Bathsheeba, sinned with her husband's murder and sinned numerous other times, but each time he came to the Lord and asked for forgiveness, attempting to turn from his sin.

The point, I think, was that Freeze does this as habit, and it is not a sin in his past that he is actively trying to control (like an alcoholic trying to get sober or a fornicator attempting to be celibate).

Just my interpretation. And again, I don't agree with it, but I don't think it's "Freeze messed up once got him he can't be a Christian anymore".

This is the modern day term for "outspoken Christian"

I've never heard the man condescend to the media or a player or an individual as it relates to his being more holy or more spiritual than someone else.

I would like to see someone produce examples.

The hyperbolic rush to judgment on this board towards every situation facing every team becomes hard to stomach. I like the lampooning every now and again but some of it is deplorable.

I agree, many see "Christian proclaiming the gospel" as "self-righteous" no matter the situation or persons actions.

I think he seems like a pretty genuine guy, but then again I've seen a lot of public people who seemed genuine and real turn out to be frauds. Freeze has the advantage of recently being a non-big timer and most of the people who knew him then saying he's always been this kind of guy (good man), so I tend to believe him.

Either way, like I said above, people get pigeon holed by the media and ANYTHING they do outside that box is perceived as being done for their own good. Again, look at Nick Saban. Guy gives tons of money, has multiple charities, does tons of specific giving/projects around town (scholarships, houses, new student Catholic center, etc) regularly attends mass, etc etc. Anything he does like that is automatically laughed out or sarcastically acknowledged.

It's the way things work these days.
