A post down the board asked about favorite players on opposing teams and I immediately thought of the great Tommy Casanova, LSU, no. 37.

For those of you who don't know, Casanova, was a great player, playing on offense, defense and special teams. He was a running back, punt returner, kick off returner, and defensive back. He played all those positions exceptionally well. All-American of course.

There is a prominent picture of Tommy in Mike Anderson's and last time I was there (with my children) I gave my children (Alabama fans) a short history lesson about this great football player.

Did anyone on this board ever see Tommy play? How is he doing? Is he revered by younger LSU fans? I hope so.

If you're a true football fan you appreciate good players even when they were opponents. Casanova was just one of those players who played so hard it was impossible not to respect him.

Archie Manning was a similar player. Every SEC fan loved Archie.

Great post and thanks for remembering such an outstanding tiger! 3 time All American. One of the greatest to wear the uniform in my opinion. Fantastic punt returner as well, perhaps the best of his era. Wish we had him now

Many times....I especially enjoyed the 1970 arse kicking of OM when he returned two punts for TD's. He's one of the very best.
