I doubt you'll see many sane Bama fans predicting a blowout now. Many of us are pretty worried about this game. I still think we win, but my confidence has definitely taken a blow.

My confidence is still about the same. I've seen Alabama too many times play a top ranked team like monsters and then all of a sudden struggle offensively against a lesser opponent. They destroy Clemson and then struggle to move the ball against Tulane only to play UGA and play fine. They struggle against Kent State but then turn around and play well on the road against Penn State. They destroy Michigan but then all of a sudden give up six sacks against Western Kentucky.

They could very well have problems but I'm not buying until I see it against a team that will pose a serious threat. Plus it was the first game and VaTech did some nice scheming defensively of their own.

31-20 Bama.

Numbers are also slanted because we faced a lot of bad offenses last year compared to previous years

Question for Tbird & any others

All I saw of the game the D has taken a pretty big step back but honestly I didn't watch A&M's D at the beginning of last season but y'all did allow lots of points in some games so my question is

Did the D progressively improve last yr? I know y'all have a nobody game Sam Houston St? Next week?

The O looked good from what I saw Jake Matthews had some erratic play in the 1st half but looked solid in the 2nd half

For example our 09 defense completely shut down the Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer offensive juggernaut. Doubt last year's D could've done that.

A&Ms D looked so bad. I don't know what to think. I feel JFF will be nails but I do feel he looked a hair slower. But 2 weeks in 100 degree practice will work that off.

I know lots of starters were out. So still a mystery. If they can get a few stops A&M can win.

A&M will light it up.

The only offenses we played last year with a pulse were A&M and LSU. Guess I forgot about that.

..and Georgia. Forgot about them too.

The Aggie defense against Rice was hardly the real one. They were terrible, no doubt, but they'll be better once those 6 starters are reinstated for the Bama game.

And yes, the D did progressively improve last year.

Didn't realize Texas A&M had to replace that many starters

The starters A&M replaced were:

LT: Luke Joeckel
C: Patrick Lewis
WR: Uzoma Nwachukwu
WR: Ryan Swope
DE: Damontre Moore
DT: Spencer Nealy
LB: Sean Porter
LB: Jonathan Stewart
FS: Steven Terrell
P: Ryan Epperson

Dustin Harris and Michael Lamothe were not full time starters, but both started the Alabama game.

Tbird - My disappointment is that when 6 starters are still in - the culture at least should be present. Hit Hard - Run Fast.

Im also not a big believer is the freshman out of position thing people say. Yes a time or 2. But good lord. They were moivng 300 pounders we were hearing could battle to start late in the season - just driving them for holes as big as Ive even seen. Alot of that was arse whipping, not lack of containment ya know.

Im trying to be honest. But dude it seemed like they were getting clobbered and had no idea where to be. The 6 starters shuould have held the together vs rice.

I dont know man.

I think If JFF is still as fast we light it up. Bama cant stop it.

But Can we stop Bama at all? I just dont know.

My prediction. This team is sick of all shite fricking shite from the media. Painting them out to the be bad guys, and making up shite about our locker room.

A&M races to an early lead of 24-13, but this time don't look back. A&M wins 48-20. Bama will be gassed by the second half. Do people really think that we are even trying to go warp speed right now? Of course not, why do that. We will be able to run the ball much, much more effectively this year.

The defense was pretty good from the get go last year. Had one outlier, Louisiana Tech. Other than that, they played extremely hard and got stops at crucial moments. 4th and inches against Ole Miss, Bama turnover to pretty much seal the game, and a couple of others.

As you probably know, we had a lot of key players out for the Rice game. Devante Harris was a true freshman last year that started 7 games for us last season. He is very good at covering. Tackling was a problem last year, but he has beefed up a bit and worked on his tackles during off season. Steven Jenkins one of our starting linebackers and Kirby Ennis our nose guard. At times 2 days ago, there were probably 6-7 true/RS freshman on the field. We will be 100% by the Bama game, barring any sort of injuries or other setbacks.

Experience was lost from last year's unit, but we have replaced that with players that most likely have higher ceilings and are good enough to start/contribute right away.

I was at the alabama vt game and it was completely revealing. We don't have a solid number 2 rb, our OL is terrible. Bama can potentially lose 3 games. Not being negative, but honest.

And on the other side, Alabama could only muster up 206 yards against a depleted VT team. I see a lot of the Bama fans talking up Virginia Tech's defense as maybe one of the best, or THE best, defense they'll face all year but like I said earlier, not one mention of such before their game. Virginia Tech seemed to only get their kudos after Alabama realized they couldn't put on the offensive clinic they thought they were. And that was with all of their starters in.

First no Bama fans are saying our OL looked good. Second I don't think many of us realized until two dys before the game that they returned 9/11 starters on defense. Their defense was not depleted their offense was. That said I don't know how to call the aTm game. I am not confident at all. Our defense will give us a chance every game I think but you will not hold aTm to 10 pts. No one will
