Not the officials.
It's the guys operating the video board, who spotted the knee being down, during the play (not afterwards), and immediately dialed up the replay for all to see.

being excited because their QB fricked up a play twice in the same play is laughable (because at least it eventually worked out for them)

This was ultimately a meaningless game but without a doubt the person/people on the field that won this game for aTm were the referees....and not because of that play.

I dont really know that I would be peacocking around about this one A&M fans. The only reason its mildly entertaining is the LSU fan reaction but even thats kinda ran its course.
