I don’t think a lot of people realized how bad things are. It’s almost like Florida hasn’t focused on recruiting offensive players since Urban left. Once Mullen gets his players and system in place, Florida will be competing again.

They won their division twice recently by a shark humping coach. Surely Dan Mullen shouldn't have problems...

Because they were the only team in the East with a pulse in 2015 and 2016. Doesn’t mean they were good.

I thought the narrative was that Florida had talent already and they just needed a great coach to come in and put it together. We probably need to settle on something.

Mullen's not going to recruit top 5 classes like Spurrier said he would need to. He's going to recruit classes ranked around 20, plug them into the program, and develop them. He's good at that. But Florida fans won't be patient enough to let that happen.

Well he (Mac) did something right.

Edit:

Something had to be there, I mean he left a loaded state team. Maybe he is just a moron? Idk.

I don’t think he’s gonna compete for championships. He can probably manage 9-10 wins though

Even with Florida not recruiting as well as in years prior they still out-talented that UK team. UK wanted to win and tbh, I think Mullen and the players didn't give UK enough credit/overlooked them.

He has to turn recruiting around. Florida sits on a wealth of instate talent, but Mullen isn’t wowing anyone right now with his recruiting ability.

You can only coach up a 3 Star so much.

Agreed. I think they got a great coach. Imagine if Bama had fired Saban after he lost to LA-Monroe. Patience

I mean, it's early, but we're ranked ahead of MSST in both raw ranking and average player ranking. They're ranked 10th, which is pretty normal for them.

Also, Mullen will get it turned around once we don't have Feleipe "I forgot which team I was on" Franks.

Mississippi has had it's best classes recently and it drops off after this year iirc. It's going to get more difficult for Moorhead.

You should really watch the replay. Effort and desire get you so far. Florida got physically whipped at the point of attack in that game. It's not so clear-cut that Florida out-talents UK. I think Kentucky was the better team.

He may not recruit top 5 classes on a consistent basis, but he will recruit better than classes around 20th. His class this year will probably finish just outside the top 10 and next year looks to be better.

You got a youtube link? I'd be happy to watch it again. TBH, that UK team reminded me of UT's 2015 team that took a lot of really good teams to the wire.

Talent is there, drive is not. I mean, our offense can't expect our defense to hold every single team that we play to ten points or less just so our shitshow of an offense can have a chance.

Personally, if we swapped Quarterbacks, I think the differences in the scheming/offenses would cause the game to be flipped on its head.

Franks, as I've been saying forever, is too easy to predict for a defensive coordinator. He's neither good in running or passing, so all a team has to do is shut down the run and our offense is completely fricked because he will never make the plays necessary to soften them up.

This was just an example of a team wanting it way more than the other -- like Florida-Ole Miss 2008. You have to actually wake up and play, and Florida didn't.

Lets go back in time to 2008 which we did on the Gator board. We were LOADED with talent, a returning Heisman (Tim Tebow), Percy Harvin, Brandon Spikes etc etc. Ole Miss came to the Swamp with a bunch of 3 stars and beat us...it wasn't really coaching or talent..Ole Miss wanted it 100X more than we did and it resulted in Tims pledge.

UK wanted it 100X more than we did and they are tough hombres, don't kid yourself...they will not be pushovers for any team this year imo. Not saying we will win the defunct BCS like the 2008 team of course...but its one game and lets see how we do the next 3 games.

Straws hates Franks and blames the loss on him...because his backup QB Trask didn't win the starters job. There was plenty of blame sandwiches to handout....like the OL and the defense.
