but it won't last at Florida with him recruiting in the same back yard as Richt, Smart, Taggart, Kiffin, etc. It could get ugly fast.
If Mullen doesn't last at Florida it won't because he didn't recruit enough 5 stars, it will be because he didn't win enough football games.

In other words, he can’t recruit

What do you think his record would have been had he played a SEC schedule and not a WAC one? Anyone can play way above there level once or twice a year, the SEC is an every week grind.
while true, for SEC teams to be successful it takes depth. Class rankings don't mean a damn thing. Go back and look at where Auburn finished, with signing classes, under Chiz. IIRC, they were top 8 every year.............yet we had holes all over the field.

Except they clearly do if you talking about winning a national title. If you are just talking about winning 8-10 games a year and not quite being an elite program, sure I agree. You can recruit at a meh level team ranking wise and still have solid seasons.
But the data is absolutely clear - teams that recruit below about #10 have not won national titles in the last 15-20 years. Oregon was the closest to doing it.
That doesn't mean that having a Top 10 average class means you will be good, it doesn't. CFB is littered with good recruiters who can't coach and get fired. But that is a different discussion.

That’s called bad development, when is the last time someone won a SEC title without several top 10 classes or a Heisman QB, it’s my opinion you can’t without one of these two things.

No, I'm gonna watch and see if the man wins football games before bashing him on message boards. Fans like you are what is wrong with Gator football right now. Spoiled by earlier success, believing that we are Alabama and can just go out and grab any 5 star we want, not willing to give a new coach a chance to prove himself.

Because he didn’t recruit enough five stars, Good players win games, X’s and O’s Are important but not as important as good players.

Hey genius, if he doesn't win enough football games, it will be because he didn't recruit enough 5 stars. Try to keep up.

Well damn and here I was thinking it was the 3 terrible coaching hires we made after Urban. You mean all we have to do is be good positive fans no matter what and we will win all our games? Who knew.. Do you see how ridiculous that looks when typed out?

That is just wrong. He won enough games at MSU to keep you State fans happy, without 5 star recruits. It will be tougher at UF because our standards are much higher but it can be done. But again, win some games and the recruiting at UF will be fine.

Obviously, that’s the point we are making at UF we expect 5 stars and championships. He needs to deliver, he’s not in Starkville anymore.

Tebow had Aaron Hernandez, one of the best lines to run behind in Florida's history, Percy Harvin, Riley Cooper. If Dak had that talent he would have set national records well beyond anything tebow could sniff at.

No, I just don't see it. New coach because Mac didn't cut it, new optimism from true fans. Glass half full, I guess.

If Mullen does at Florida what he did with Dak at MSU, he will be fired in 4 years or less.

You forget the arse beating they put on UGA, Okl., and other big name programs. TCU is another tough test. I bet they haven't finished in the top 10 in recruiting maybe ever. The list goes on and on.
In this system we are in now, the big name programs get in whether they deserve it or not. I thought it would fix the "beauty contest" that the polls were. The truth is, it's a bigger "beauty contest" now just with fewer judges.

Holy cow dude. Then why are you arguing with people?
Here's a spoiler for you: Mullen's tenure will look a lot like this:
Year 1: 8 wins
Year 2: 9 wins
Year 3: 6 wins
Year 4: 8 wins
Year 5: 6 wins
He probably won't be there longer than that. He will do well early with Mac's recruits but when he starts having to rely on his own, he will be inconsistent. The only consistency will be Florida fans screaming about shitty recruiting classes. It happened every year at State - even when the fans were otherwise satisfied with his job performance. And don't get into the whole "easier to recruit at Florida" argument - because his current recruiting at Florida looks just like it did when he was in Starkville.

That’s fine and all but it doesn’t mean we ignore what’s staring us in the face, this staff has a real recruiting issue that will surface its ugly head sooner or later. Ignoring it does nothing but not prepare you for the future. Maybe if we call a spade a spade now Mullen won’t feel so comfy in his new gig and he’ll do something in the offseason to fix it.

Have you looked at Mac's recruiting while at UF?

Tebow with his elite talent around him won multiple national titles
