How ugly will this get? I'm a die hard Msu fan of everything but we all know Uconn is more than one step above almost everyone year after year with all those national titles and final-4's.

We're just glad to be back in the sweet 16 but you knew our bracket spelled disaster. I'm thinking we lose something like 92-61?

Honestly pulling for y'all. Would be an awesome upset. And at the end of the day if MSU try and gloat about it it's fricking women's basketball.

They're really good. Like, scary good. They beat my gamecocks by 12 back in February but the MOV felt MUCH bigger..

I'll pray for your ladies. An upset would be splendid.

If we were to beat Uconn that would be better than a title in some regards. Will not happen but a closer game within 15 points would repeesent the Sec well vs a monster. I think we lose by big digits by 28-35.

Hey hope y'all give them a hell. What UCONN has going on there is crazy. Just make it a game and that's a statement.

Defensively, you guys can complicate things because you're a really good defensive team.

They will likely put Moriah Jefferson (their defensive stopper, understatement of the year) on your best offensive player (Vivians) and Kia Nurse on Williams, your point guard. They employ switches on defense very well, eventhough Jefferson is a PG she usually guards the other team's best player as long as she is a guard.

Your biggest asset is that Vivians has a quick release and needs very little space to shoot (UCONN struggles with quick trigger guards). If Schaefer can get really creative and have Vivians all over the place knocking down jumpers off screens all night then this could get interesting. Your defense can keep it close, relatively speaking.

Your biggest detriment is that UCONN has two of the most mobile forwards in the country. Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck are fast and play all over the court.. Tuck usually more inside, but can hit threes while Stewart usually plays more outside but has the size and strength to go inside if needed.

I'm rooting for Duquesne to pull the upset in Storrs tonight.

WBB is UConn's world right now. Everyone else is playing for second place. What you have to realize about the MSU team is it is still very young. Everyone is coming back next year and should be better.

State is an elite team defensively and very average offensively. Its just not the recipe to beat South Carolina, much less Connecticut. The season will end in the Sweet 16. Playing them within 20 would be a shocker to most who follow. They beat South Carolina by 12 in Columbia, and South Carolina is a step above MSU.

It doesnt help that we are playing them at a "neutral" site in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It is what it is though - They need butts in seats in WBB, that's why the first two rounds are on campus, and that year after year, 14 or 15 host teams make the Sweet 16. Upsets don't happen because lower seeds are playing in true road games.

But you can't have neutral site women's games - no one would show up. I wouldn't drive to Memphis or NOLA to watch MSU women play for a national championship.

If any other MSU member posted this, I would fully support tLandmass.

However MullenBoys is a bad person, so I hope UConn beats the crap out of you.

UCONN -'Where Men are Men. And Women are Champions.'

Can you win?
Long answer- No
Short- No.

I'll be watching and rooting hard for State and if it ends within 15, I'll consider it a W for State.

If you look at their scores for the year, it is just sick. They doubled up more teams than they didn't double up. I don't think they had a single win less than double digits.

I think we're in a tight spot, fellers.

Oh I'm definitely not expecting a Mississippi State win.. I was just giving my take on how the game will likely go.

I watch a lot of WBB, so you're not telling me anything new but still, there are intangibles to both teams that make this an interesting matchup. State may end up losing by 30 but like you said, State is really young. UCONN, on the other hand, is lead by a power trio of seniors that play on another level when together.

I'm pretty confident in ensuring that State won't win, but there's enough there to make it interesting. I'm hoping at least.

Good luck to your girls tonight .... you're basically playing them on their home court.

They can be beaten - someone will do it eventually - why not MSU?

Technically, UConn has to beat Duquense tonight to get to face MSU next weekend.

UConn is a 39 point favorite. That's a line that you expect to see if Kentucky's men played Tennessee-Martin.

Duquense is 28-4. That's how good Connecticut is.

Yeah, I know ... we've played them these past couple of seasons during the regular season.

But they are beatable.

I remember way back when UCLA dominated men's basketball like this ... yet, eventually, they were beaten when least expected. I remember exactly where I was when Notre Dame broke their 88 game win streak in 1974, who I was sitting with, where, and the beer I was drinking.

I still remember most of the players, I remember Digger Phelps working the bench, Shumate, Dantley, Brokaw, Paterno, Novak ... they had to play a perfect game while, at the same time, UCLA did not.

Same thing will eventually happen to UCONN. Why not against MSU?

'Cause, you're 100% correct ... UCONN is going to mudhole Duquesne probably by 50 or more.

If I was a MSU woman's basketball player and I thought UConn was pouring it on, I would take out Gino at the knees while I was running down a sideline
