A good portion of Patricia Cornwell's The Body Farm is set in Knoxville. Actually mentions meeting the UT Forensic Anthropologist (based on William Bass) at Calhoun's behind Neyland Stadium on a gameday Saturday.

The title of the book is based on Bass' actual body farm, where they study decomposition of human cadavers (set across the river from UT).

I hate to mention it, but it is truly random.

From 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas':

"Just because you're a cop, these days, doesn't mean you can't be With It. And this conference attracted some real peacocks. But my own costume -- $40 FBI wingtips and a Pat Boone madras sportcoat -- was just about right for the mass-median; because for every urban-hipster, there were about twenty crude-looking red necks who could have passed for assistant football coaches at Mississippi State."

The pilot episode of "Miami Vice" had several SEC references. Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) was a former University of Florida football player who made a game winning play against Alabama. He owned a former UF alligator mascot ("Elvis") who supposedly "took a bite out of a Georgia free safety".

The "Dukes of Hazzard" movie had the governor yell "Go Dawgs" at the end of the movie (with everyone in the room barking afterward).

"Saturday Night Live" once did a parody of an old-style TV variety show where they opened with a song that had lyrics like "have you ever seen the lights in Auburn, Alabama?"

"Harvey Birdman" on Adult Swim once had a scene in a courtroom where the judge was trying to hurry things up because "the Dawgs are playing Tennessee."

There is an Auburn sign in the background of one of the scenes in the movie Winter's Bone.

Chanin Tatum has worn a few bama shirts.

there was a Bama flag at a press conference for Obama.

Numerous Tosh.o references. Alot ot Saban because TOsh is a dolphins fan. But there are two writer from U of A on the show.

The HBO show Treme references an Alabama vs. LSU game. Steve Zahn's character says that he bet on Alabama to beat LSU or something, and won.

and also this from Treme...

I remember an episode of the sitcom, "Two Guys, a Girl, and Pizza Place" had an Ole Miss reference. Ryan Reynolds character I think, went to see his lost love who went off to college in Oxford. He went all the way to England, only to discover it was Oxford, Mississippi.

The biggest is of course the episode of Star Trek where it was revealed that Dr. McCoy attended Ole Miss.

To quote Harvey Clearwater from Pat Conroy's The Lords of Discipline, "I'd be big stuff in a fraternity if I'd gone to the University of Tennessee."

How about when Brent Calloway cameo'ed in an episode of 'Necessary Roughness' last year.

He's simply "the Heisman trophy winner from Alabama" who flashes a thumbs up to Connor McClane -- played by John Stamos -- after he signs a contract with McClane's agency, V3.
