In a place like that there is only one thing that probably is universally liked, and the Knights are really popular there at the moment (and new). Same reason I'd guess the Carolina Panthers are #1 in North Carolina - they beat out scattered college searches for UNC, NC State, Clemson, South Carolina and then all the private schools (Duke, Wake, etc).

Honestly a little shocked the Braves weren't #1 Georgia - obviously UGA is #1 collegiately, but the Braves are #1 in the city (and the state) as far as professional teams and cross all collegiate boundaries.

I'd love to see the breakout on some of these states. I would have guessed Indiana Basketball in Indiana. Probably would have guessed Kansas Basketball in Kansas - but I guess they have KSU as well.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State have similar sized fanbases. Ole Miss may have the slight edge, but not for long if we do, as many Mississippi State grads stay in state after graduation.

Also, this map blows. There is nothing more popular in Massachusetts than the Red Sox and Oklahoma than the Sooners. Furthermore, there are more Broncos fans in Wyoming than University of Wyoming fans.

Total Fanatics is Oklahoma.

The most popular easily in Oklahoma is the Thunder and it ain't close if you have been there.

I wonder how close the Saints are to Ole Miss and State in Mississippi.

Same with the Braves to Alabama/Auburn in Alabama.

There are more LSU fans in Louisiana than Saints fans too

The southern portion of Mississippi is as black and gold as Louisiana

You can mark Southern Alabama below Montgomery as Saints territory.

I'm a big time Braves fan but it's not a lot fan support in this part of the state for them which I always find strange.

There is no doubt about this... problem is many of the LSU fans are not gonna be on Google's analytics radar..

I think dawg fans are most passionate out of any team in Georgia. More willing to spend more disposable income than any other fanbase.

That said... according to local sport radio, it feels like NFL talk over 50% of the time all year with the other sports/teams splitting the last 50% (i understand that atlanta is a commuter town... but i really dont enjoy local sport talk because of all of the nfl preoccupation).

The people that grew up and live in Las Vegas have been desperate to call something their own, and now they finally have it.

Plus, that team went to Stanley Cup Finals their first season. If you look at this list, most teams designated for each state are programs and franchises that have proved to be each respective state's finest resource in victories over time.

A state that is nothing but a hot arse desert chooses a hockey team as it’s favorite?

I figure that’ll change with the Raiders moving to LV

I'd argue against CT pulling for the SKANKees. I lived there for over 7 years & would def. say it's a 50%/50% with the Red Socks.
