Stephen Garcia, Derek Watson, or Demitris Summers on offense.
Ricardo Hurley on defense.

Johnthan Banks - won Thorpe award but was severely overrated. I'm not even sure he's in the league any more. If so, he's a practice player.
Player that was highly rated that did not pan out would be Quay Evans. Not only did he not pan out and get kicked off the team, he was recently charged with murder.

Julio wasn't overrated, he was just underutilized by Saban, same goes for O.J. Howard.

Kolton Houston/John Theus. Waited 4 years due to a failed drug test for Houston to become abliabilitybon the line. Theus, a former 5 Star never showed up in the big game.

Outside of JJ, Trovon Reed. I remember being so pumped to sign him. He did absolutely nothing.

Jeremy johnson no doubt. Before him Khiel Frazier was supposed to be some hero and we ended up 3-9. At least JJ got us the Bham bowl.

If we are talking 'who had the most potential but threw it away'

Quincy Carter.
He was the SEC Freshman of the year in 1998 and it was pretty much all downhill from there. Never really showed much improvement over the course of his career and I would agree his decision making actually got worse. Had some mild success in the NFL but flamed out pretty quickly because of drugs.
So, I guess he isn't necessarily a case of a player who is revered by the fanbase, but rather the most potential gone to waste.

Played at my high school. Never really gave it much thought that he was overrated since he was a damn good high school QB but not great. Didn't he end up as a decent TE? I don't think that would make him a total bust.
