Seeing as how the gamecocks have nowhere to go but up, I'm of course going to say South Carolina.

Will probably translate to middle of the pack, but that would still be a significant improvement.

True if you jump from 14-8ish won't be many others moving up 6 slots.

TAMU is the easy answer with a new DC

TAMU was ranked #125 in TOP offense last season...
LSU was #9

i'm curious as to how chavis is going to adjust

Sometimes those stats are misleading from year to year. Georgia's defensive numbers looked better than we actually were in 2014, IMO, because we just didn't face many good quarterbacks and we ran a ball control offense. Worley and Dylan Thompson were the best passers we faced, and neither of those were gunslingers but they made our defense look porous. UGA's D could actually improve substantially without posting better numbers, depending on what kind of offenses we face next year.

According to your link.

Lower, slightly.

No way State comes near matching last year. My opinion vs. his. We shall see.

South Carolina seems to have improved their personnel

USC has improved every position on the defensive line, yes, but the real hope for optimism is with the new DC, Jon Hoke.

I'd like to think last year was a disgusting aberration after what has traditionally been a rock-solid defense, but none of us know. You could typically count on Carolina having a pretty damn good DL for the last 10 years or so, but last year was just horrifically bad.

The coaching changes should help, but the talent pool isn't quite as good as it was.

Most of the mistakes last year wasn't because of talent though. Pure fundamentals were garbage.

I hate to say it, but Chavis will have A&M playing at a competent level this season. The turnaround he produced in LSU's defense in 2009 was remarkable.

Unless he's tied up in court.

I think Auburn will def be most improved, but sadly that is not a very high bar when you start at such a low point.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Tennessee's D has a chance to be very good. The DL was nasty last year and will be better this year.
The LBs lose AJ, but gain Dillon Bates back from injury. He was playing a lot as a TF until he went out. He's the early favorite to replace AJ. LB group is very deep and extremely talented from top to bottom. Same with DL.
The DBs are loaded with solid veterans and talented young guys.

Our D will resemble the good Mizzou defenses lately, but with better LBs

Arkansas takes a dip... probably.

We lose a lot but we have a DC who really made a difference last year. I think we take a few games to settle in at least.

Will we unleash the defense that slapped around Ole Miss and Texas? Well possibly but we might be looking at that next year.
