Wish Auburn could bring these 2 back. Wouldn't have to worry about the defense anymore. The amazing thing about how good of LB's they were, one came to Auburn to play safety and the other came to play WR. They were both so athletic.

Amazing Pick

I used to live in the Shoals area of Alabama where he is from. His momma was pissed about the painting that got made from that hit. A local memorabilia store had a huge copy of it. She went in there and cussed the owner out and told him how horrible he was for selling something like that making fun of a hometown product.

I can understand a protective Momma but she had to know that's exactly what would make it so appealing.

The thing about Jason Allen, though, is that he was a cornerback who played like he was a linebacker (IIRC, when he switched to safety he became the first non-linebacker to lead the team in tackles). I think his pro career would've been a lot better had he not gotten injured his senior year. He got paid but he never was the same after the injury, imo. But then a dislocated hip is no joke in terms of coming back full speed and full strength.

I was so wanting him at Alabama. Having him with Peprah and Harper would have been something else. But...... Jason Allen fricking hates Alabama.

I honestly figured he would end up at LSU.

I take it he hated Bama long before he played college ball -- any particular reason why?

The first football game after 9/11 was Mississippi State vs. South Carolina.

Both teams on the field in a show of solidarity holding the American flag together

I think he grew up as a Tennessee fan. The Shoals area of Alabama which includes: Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, and Florence is close to the Tennessee state line. There are actually a bunch of Tennessee fans in the area. Not near as many as there are Bama fans since that area is only about 2 hrs north of Tuscaloosa.

Probably just so much saturation of being surrounded by Alabama his whole life. Jayson Swain hated Alabama too. Ironically, the year Allen joined Tennessee and Swain committed, was the year Alabama ended the 7 year streak. So needless to say, they had even more motivation.

He's doing really well in the NFL now despite his short comings from 2010-2013. And some in 2014.

I didn't even realize McClain was back in the league. Hopefully he will keep his head on straight this time around and stay the hell away from home: Decatur, AL.
