Shaun Alexander

I think Bama was giving the LSU defense their playbook, pointed to the plays they were about to run. And LSU still couldn't stop him.

Craig Steltz in 2007 is the first that comes to mind.

Johnny Manziel had a hell of a game against us this year...

Running back names Edwards for Georgia some years ago. He was a converted DB. I seem to remember him suffering a devastating knee injury in a freak off season volley ball accident or something. But the main thing I remember about him ... was it Robert Edwards maybe? ... anyways, he absolutely killed us.

There was another game at Arkansas since Spurrier was here when those two backs they had ran for something like 500 yards on us .... Spurrier fired Tyron Nix as DC shortly afterwards.

Nah, not so much.
But it makes for a good story, huh?

Robert Edwards. Dude was tearing the Vols a new in the first half and then broke his foot and we ended up losing

David Greene in 2004. Absolutely killed LSU. Made up for losing twice the year before.

I remember that time Rohan Davey passed for 528 yards against us in Bryant-Denny Stadium. It's incredible the score was as close as it was. We could do NOTHING on offense and Davey was scorching our secondary.

Josh Reed or that big MSU tailback J.J. Johnson from around the same year.

A Bama DB forced a fumble as Josh Reed was going into the endzone for a touchdown and ended up a touch back. The score should have been closer to 42-21.

But for LSU, the only answer is Shaun Alexander.

McFadden tore us up that night in 2007 with something like 320 rushing yards.

McFadden is the Gamecocks worst nightmare. I just remember cracking up laughing in the middle of one of his probably like 5 40+ yarders. For whatever reason, we simply could not stop their wildcat.

I'll have to go with either Fred Talley or Manziel last year against us. Manziel did all his damage in 3 quarters and it was a fricking beatdown.

As for an AU player laying a beatdown on another SEC team, I gotta bring up Bo Jackson against Bama in 1983. He had over 200 yards on only 12 carries early to mid 3rd quarter before a tornado made the game unplayable in the 4th quarter and neither team even scored again. He ended with 250+ rushing yards, but he was well on his way to 350 rushing yards before the tornado. Hell he was averaging almost 20 a carry in the 3rd quarter.

No idea how it took so long for this to come up. I remember leaving the stadium and being absolutely shell shocked. Been to probably 50 LSU+ games in Death Valley, and never seen anything like that.

As on-point as any duo in any game. Was absolutely incredible.
