Well, you did play in one more game than everyone else besides FSU. Without that one game AU would be around 4 or 5, depending on the attendance of the championship game.
besides being incorrect you would think with 7 games with rough 15k more capacity bama could have made up the difference

That's not an entirely full picture though because in addition to the capacity of the GA Dome for the SECCG (the "extra game") you would need to take into account the difference in the capacities of the road stadiums / neutral site games each team played as well. Like any of this really matters, though.

Auburn also averaged 85,656 fans in eight home games.

So you could not even sell out your home stadium in an SEC title year. Cool story.

Lsu and bama had one less home game than auburn. I understand that neutral site games are accounted for, but those fanbases are split and both stadiums have less seating capacity.

If I'm not mistaken, since AU implemented the barcode scanning at the gate, the numbers are actual scanned tickets and not fake attendance numbers

What were the attendance figures for 2012?

Probably about the same Bama had under Shula.

They still broke the SEC run on NC and blew an 18 pt. lead and loss to that other Florida school. Bless their hearts!

They played in the same number as anyone that played in a conference championship game. So many other teams played 14.

All you had to do was win the Iron Bowl and be the best team in the state... and SEC West... and then have a chance to be the best team in the SEC. Then you could play FSU.

You failed to do all of the above. Good job.

You know, it'd been interesting to see Alabama play in a national championship against a complete team instead of a physically impaired Texas, mentally impaired LSU and a physically and mentally impaired Notre Dame.

I guess now with Gus here, we'll never get a chance to see Bama play in a real national championship game. Oh well.
