More embarassing hire (at the time), Chizik or Orgeron?

Chizik was 5-19 (2-14) at Iowa State when he was hired at Auburn. Auburn was heavily critcized by some media for hiring him over Turner Gill.

Orgeron was 10-25 (3-21 ) at Ole Miss. His record is better if you include his interim stint at USC and LSU (although I guess his LSU record doesn't count as interim anymore ).

You forgot Orgeron's high school and pee wee football record.

Equally embarrassing.

At least Chizik has been a coordinator. Orgeron is a loud cheerleader.

Mr. 5-19... Craziest hire ever.... went 3-9, then 2-10, was on a 10 game losing streak and JJ hired him.

I know we won a NC, but terrible hire then, terrible hire now.

NOTE: Turner Gill would have been worse.

I love how people try to say his record during his only time as a head coach, which was in the SEC, in our division, is not a good way to judge him.

Its not like it was 30 years ago and he's proven to be a winner since. He has proven absolutely nothing since.

What exactly are you getting at here?

Absolutely.

Was he even interviewed? I remember the media pushing really hard for Auburn to hire him (kind of like us with Orgeron).

Were there any other serious candidates?

Look at his recent record - forget about Ole Mess - He knows he f'd that up and has proven he has learned from it -so far.

Chizik. He was fresh off a 2-10 season

Using Os record from 10yrs ago is ridiculous

Yep. From all accounts, it was a terrible interview. He was very unprepared. In Chizik'a defense, when he interviewed, he came in with a game plan on exactly how he was going to bring buzz back to Auburn, already had a core of his staff lined up contingent on getting the job, and overall laid out a great foundation for the program. He just failed at the continuing success part of the plan.

The Chizik hire was so bad that a guy I know called and left Jay Jacobs a voicemail thanking him for the hire. He's a Bama fan.

So would LSU fans take this guarantee for the next 4 years right now?:

2017: 8-5
2018: 14-0 (SECC and NC - I guess it would actually be 15-0)
2019:8-5
2020: 3-9
2021: New coach

Orgeron has also been a HC too, so there's that

could be worse. I'd take another national title gladly, though.

Chizik hire had Bama fans rolling Toomers and Barn fans booing Jacobs when he arrived back in Auburn.

Very similar situations actually. Prayers LSU, cause y'all too damn poor for a Cam to offset a Chiz or Yaw Yaw.

Sure, but first we have to buy an elite QB in order to win a natty. Any elite QBs steal a laptop and on the way to community college next season?
