This seems rather idiotic on multiple levels. 1) the US Army isn't currently involved in the conflict, 2) the US Army is not a policy maker; it goes and fights the battles it is instructed to fight. Those decisions are made by politicians like Brandon. 3) the reason cities like Austin exist and can host music festivals like SXSW is in no small part due to the prior activities of the US Army. 4) I'm sure Bibi will reconsider the Israeli position on Palestine after hearing that a bunch of second-rate bands pulled out of a music festival in a mid-sized city in Texas over sponsorship by a US government agency that hasn't been involved in the Israeli-Palestinian land dispute since the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

Moved to NW Alabama about 5 years and couldn't be happier about it. The only thing I miss (besides friends & family) is the Hill Country and they're doing their best to ruin that too.
I did the opposite - you living in the Shoals area?
I live far NW in the Austin MSA, do my best to cross 620 as few times as possible each week. Aside from an occasional run to Terry Black's downtown, maybe once every two months, I don't go there at all any more. It's sad to see it go the way it has gone the last 20 years. I could see the seeds of it as early as 1991-93 on the UT campus.

This is the key issue. Money. So many bands & individual artists have credited SXSW with giving them their start in the business. Do you really want to throw away your shot at a career because Israel is defending itself from a group that slaughters its children, murders its elderly and rapes its women?

There are some holdouts - one of LSU's own alumni is a UT emeritus prof and a fire-breathing conservative, John Sibley Butler, but I don't think even he can get away with as much as he once could. That's why the children of this three-time Texas grad household went to ATM.
