if any of you have a detailed breakdown of your pros/cons, and what LSU should expect from yall on both sides of the ball, it'd be appreciated!

for LSU, expect a very mediocre OL that won't give jayden daniels a lot of time os he will be scrambling a ton. we have a very great room of WRs that hopefully will be targeted often - the RB room has been underwhelming but we finally get John Emery back after a 15 game suspension.

our DL took a big hit with maason smith's ACL injury, but we still have a solid front. our LB room is not great by any means, and as for now our CB room seems pretty solid. Safeties are pretty good as well

I am hoping we fixed our special teams issues that lost us the fsu game, but we shall see.

looking forward to the game. I think this might be the first time MSU has been favored to win, unless yall were favored when you had Dak

Run defense looks pretty solid. You probably don't want to go man-to-man against the Air Raid unless you want a repeat of 2020. Weakness for D is probably middle of the field passing and timing routes to the outside. Oh and the pass rush will be able to disrupt but they seem incapable of actually sacking the QB.

Expect to get that arse waxed.

But seriously, most interesting matchup is probably our DL vs your OL (weak vs weak). We have had a massive struggle getting pressure on QBs. Now, some of that is scheme as we have been going contain heavy (and likely will again) against mobile QBs. But still.

Boutte vs Forbes might be the best receiver/corner matchup anyone will see all year. Forbes is potentially the first corner off the board, first round pick. Zona threw at him twice I believe and he intercepted both passes (though one was reviewed and overturned with a heel on the line). He’s just nasty.

Don’t expect anything surprising from the QB. Rogers is going to bore everyone to death on his way to shattering every SEC passing record ever. Truly an enigma. He can’t throw the ball more than about 40 yards in the air.

We will miss at least 2 kicks.

We will run the ball more than you expect.

Did I mention we’re gonna stomp that Tiger dick bitch?

They should have won last year as well. But they allowed like 3-4 explosive plays which resulted in touchdowns. Arnett's defense is really solid 95% of the time but can be exploited for big gains for that other 5%.

On a serious note:

Rogers is solid. Run game and run blocking are improved and we have been running it a lot more than last year. Receivers are ok but dropped some easy balls against Az. OL is average, at times they look great and other times very meh.

Defense is salty. Great against the run. DBs seem very good. LBs are ok. DL
don’t pressure the QB enough when it’s not a blitz

ETA if we would wrap up more on tackles rather than go for a big hit our defense would make a lot more big plays. Numerous times we were there for a sack or tackling a receiver with only a short gain but instead of wrapping up we dove into them for a big hit and either missed or they slipped out. Gotta work on that

This thread exhibits why Mississippi State is my favorite fan base in the SEC. For real.

It's an interesting match up. I think Ms St is an improved team that now leans to winning the close games.

The things I'm looking to see in this game:

1- Is MS ST's run game really improved enough to push the SEC DLs and open holes.

2- Is Ms St's defensive front improved? They are getting to the QB. They didn't fishin a few times vs AZ. But remember, they will have their starting DLman back (so I'm told)

3- Will Ms ST time of POS keep LSU off the field enough.

for LSU..

1- Can they take advantage of the LBs. I see the edges as an issue for Ms St.

2- Can JD scramble enough to make the first downs?

3- How will he do against the best DBs he will have faced to this point.

My fellow indianola academy alum Sherman Timbs needs more playing time. They don’t use him much but seems every time he gets on the field he makes a play or is right there in it

You know what to expect with the Air Raid. Will Rogers is extremely accurate and will pick you apart under 20 yards. If your secondary can't tackle, it's going to be a long night. Rogers is completing 79% of his passes and has 9 TD and 2 INT. Both interceptions were on the receivers.

What's different about 2022 MSU is that we seem to be able to run the ball enough to keep teams honest. Dillon Johnson is averaging 5.1 ypc and Marks is at 4.5. You can't ignore the run like the last couple of years.

State is third in the SEC in total offense. First in passing and 11th in rushing. The passing isn't a surprise, but the rushing is. Teams aren't going to always be able to drop 8.
