Anyone else saying a few prayers that their recruiting class doesn't get demolished?

We've got the #2 RHP in the country and the #2 LHP in the state of Georgia in our upcoming class. Will be a miracle if we can keep them both.

College baseball recruiting takes a lot of finesse.

John Cohen said yesterday that we may have 10 current players and possibly 12 signees drafted

I know the Vandy education is a great sell, but if my son is a 1st rounder and gets multi millions offered to him I want him to sign. Every team will always pay for your college education after pro ball.

LSU knows the feeling, idk why they even recruited Riley Pint he's the projected number 2 pick in the draft. 6'5 with a 98 mph fastball and nasty off speed will do that though

Pretty much a Top Ten lock. Every year you recruit that long shot just in case something falls through.

2. Riley Pint, RHP, St. Thomas Aquinas HS (Overland Park, Kan.)
Pint is the best mound prospect to come out of Kansas since Wichita State's Mike Pelfrey made a run at the top pick in 2005. He has an electric arm and a fastball that reached as high as 102 mph this spring. While Pint has a huge ceiling, he does come with some risk.

I was mistaken...the fastball tops out at 102 -_-

Braves reportedly have a deal to take Vandy commit Ian Anderson at #3 (previously projected mid-late 1st round).

Trying to save some $ with the first pick to overslot later

I believe that would be if he slips. I don't think they would take a high school arm at 3 after the GM just said we need hitters bad. Passing on Lewis or Moniak would be silly IMO.

Also, there are better pitching prospects than Ian Anderson.

I read the same story about Anderson if he was willing to take a signficant cut at 3 allowing the Braves to sign someone like Benson at 40. I could see that but it seems to risky to not take the best available player at 3 and then see what happens at 40 and 44.

We have an 8th grader committed that could be the best player to ever come through State if he comes, which he won't. Iv'e watched him play three times and he's hit 4 bombs in those game. Already has a 1.8 pop time as a 14 year old catcher. 6'0 200 lbs. Definitely the most talented individual I have ever seen on a baseball field.

I don't follow baseball recruiting, but I have heard that Hudson Sanchez has very little chance of ever making it to CS. I think he's our top guy.

Having pop doesn't define success. What you are looking for is consistent hard contact. Having a good eye is why Moniak is so highly regarded. He doesn't even have much homerun power but he's the very definition of a hitter. The Braves drafted Braxton Davidson a few years back because he could bomb baseballs like nobodies buisness and he is nothing but a bomber. He's hitting like .220 this year with 2 bombs. He still has great size and a powerful swing but he just isn't hitting.

So basically, your boy might still be in play. :)

What's your point? All you got from what i said is that he can hit a long way? Tremendous footwork behind the plate. BA was over .500 this season at the varsity level. The kid has the bloodlines as well- mother was a track star and father was an Olympic power lifter. His only negative is that he is dumb. Which might actually be a good thing down the road lol

Pint was recruited as a sophemore. There is literally no reason to not offer him if he is interested. They know he's not coming to campus but there is no risk in offering him a spot
