I can probably rattle off 25 places within walking distance of the stadium in Fayetteville.

The bars are far from downtown? I don't even think it's a mile walk -- and it's flat. So, you're either old or a fatty rolling around, which wouldn't surprise me given your home state.
By the way Columbia, MO > Gainesville, FL. A group of us went last year to Gainesville and were really underwhelmed.
There's a reason why Columbia has soared up lists of top SEC towns from many of the mainstay SEC reporters. It's a great town. Easily walkable. Tons of bars. Good times.

If you have any friends, find a tailgate. Plenty of tailgating space, just really spread out. Downtown is connected to campus, with the stadium on the other side of campus. Its not a far walk if you aren't a wussy. But if you are, there are free shuttles at Bengals, and taxis everywhere. We have Uber as well.

If you have a little money and are a full grown adult, I would suggest CC's City Broiler the night before or after for what will be one of the best steaks you will ever have. The place is legit.

I always find it funny when people "tailgate" for football games in bars. I mean, you can do that literally any day you want, you dont' get to be on campus with thousands of other fans on a nice fall day and get drunk in public like that any day.
I had a blast in '12 in columbia, and the bars we went to (Friday night) were great. But dang man, find a gator lot and hang out with your brethren for a while. Then grab some road beers and mingle with some mizzou folks near the stadium, there's a huge lot that a bunch of people party in adjacent to the stadium. Save the bars for later.

I've never tailgated at a bar. You can always find me and my buddies in Lot M, tailgating away by the stadium with stuff set up.
Was just replying to the arkytard's suggestion that there are no places in downtown CoMo because that's a funny assertion.

I compare como with fayettevill in teh sense that everyone who talks shite about them has quite clearly never been.
FAyetteville is awesome and como is like a less cool version of Athens. Both are great places to hang out for a while that get undue hate.
