In 1935, Mizzou flooded Faurot Field and staged the United States Olympic Team's swimming and rowing trials there. Jesse Owens briefly visited the field and one year later made history when he upset Hitler's perfect race in Germany.
In the 50s and early 60s, Mizzou would flood the field during the winter and hold ice hocky and ice skating competitions.
The only thing they haven't done at Faurot Field is do like the Romans and flood the bowl to stage a Naval battle.

Me too! If Mizzou actually ever decided to do that, it would be incredibly entertaining. I doubt people would make fun of the swimming bowl field if we actually held naval battles at Faurot Field.
That would be incredible.

Do the players have to crawl up/down the grass levee to get on or off the field?

Well, when flooded they can simply dive into the massive pond.
