Why do you think this?

I think its a good fit. He has set his roots in the midwest and developed recruiting ties. Its a bigger program that he can immediately make a huge splash at. I think Mizzou lands him and becomes a strong program again.

The day Mizzou pays over 5million for a coach to come here is the day hell freezes over. I'd love to have Marshall, but I already know what's gonna happen. Mizzou is gonna Mizzou and make an underwhelming hire.

Would hate to see that happen.

Seems like Marshall has been waiting on a job in that area to open and the Mizzou gig would be a seamless transition. Hope y'all do land him he will build a P5 school into a strong contender.

If you can do what he has done at schools like Winthrop and Wichita St. then logic only dictates he will build a stronger team at a bigger school. I really wanted SC to get Marshall but things just didn't line up right.

Offer him 3.5M and keys to the Caddy. Make him say no.

Make it 6 yrs and it makes it more difficult to say no.

You offer him $3.5M and it'll be pretty easy to say no. He's already making $3.3M and they're not gonna let him walk over $200K.

You are gonna need to be in the $4m+ range for 5 years +

If you want to see him sweat offer 5M for 6 years.
Just might land you a good coach...

If Mizzou was smart they would do this. The thing about this hire is that it has to be splashy, it has to be expensive, and it has to be a big name. The reason for this is the current state of the University. People are more excited about women's sports right now than men's Basketball and Football. That is unacceptable. You went the cheap bullshite route in football, you're saving money there. Make the splash, get the fan base excited again. You hire Marshall they will pack the Arena to the gills from day one.

You can afford the hire because you have a steady stream of money coming in from the SEC. That would help the school big big.
Good Luck

Maybe not but I think Mizzou may be more willing to put up with him than most (personality was a big issue when we were looking at him and tbh, he never would've made it here with his abrasiveness as neither boosters nor fans would've stomached him once they got to know him -- might've gotten a grace period but an abrasive coach never lasts at UT).

Also, you're in his current recruiting grounds and that is appealing for him. If you're willing spend the cash I think you can get him. Problem is he'll want more than many in the SEC are willing to pay for a roundball coach.

But he wouldn't lose...he's about the surest thing possible.

We aren't getting him though.

Don't you want Keatts? He's certainly not a HR. I think he could be a really good coach here, but that's not a "win the press conference" hire by any stretch.

Yep. He gonna come down from heaven and form 5 star 7 footers out of dust and breath life into them and say "Let there be basketball.

and there will be basketball.

Never lose a game.
